Jay was dropping 2 albums in a within year from 97-2003. Sometimes with a 10 month turnaround. Jay never let his albums breathe back then. It cannibalize his sales. Dynasty came out Halloween 2000 than Blueprint come out 11 months later. So if really being technical jay sold more records in 2001. Jay was dropping albums in less than a year or like a month over a year for 7 years straight. Which is like today era type shyt. Ja was scorching hot 1 album and that’s it.

from strictly a commercial standpoint, i would say that only nelly & eminem were bigger than jarule in '01-02.

UGK werent stars at all. jay couldve threw anybody on "big pimpin" and it wouldve had the same success. he couldve threw that group Dirty on there.(edit: they came out a year later, but still).

swizz beatz was one of the most popular producers in the game when DMX was at his peak.

the southern reach aint even really a factor. big pimpin was a huge crossover smash with white folks.
unless UGK came up with the hook or something, theyre pretty much expendable on this record. they never even had a hit by themselves.
