This is really just about international tech power. If the US cared about half the things they accuse TikTok of, we'd see it reflected in other sites as well.
There was a YouTube video years ago that described how powerful it is for a social media website to be based within a specific country in terms of information gathering and economics. It does the US no good for China to have this much power, so they're running an insane media campaign against it.

I love tik tok. The videos are nice and short, as opposed to long YouTube videos. I can get a variety of stuff based on my algorithm. I can spend more time over there than on here.

Those were excerpts from lines of questioning. The congressman from Georgia was asking about TikTok using our bodies reaction to stimulus as a part of questions to show that they're preying upon children and that the product is addictive. You ask that question so the "no" is on the record. The answer is "yes but it's stored on your device" which actually supports the Carter's belief. The question isn't as dumb as his accent makes it sound.holy shyt
The other question was obviously yes but again it's a line of questions that led to the conversation of TikTok as a spyware to look at other devices and gather data from it for better content or for spy data gathering, to send to China.
In court you ask obvious questions you know the answers to, to lead somewhere, or to get on the record. They aren't as dumb as the previous Facebook hearing questions.

A gross misrepresentation of the hearing as someone who watched it. He was incredibly evasive and when asked important questions about sharing and selling data he must've said "I'll have to get back to you on that" 100 times. Debbie Dingell for example destroyed him.
