I signed up for threads this afternoon too. I want to get rid of twitter but it's hard to part with something you've had for 10+ years with so much stored information.\

This isn’t a surprise. People got tired of the right wing trend of Twitter and we’re thirsty for a legitimate alternative.

I’ve said this in other threads but eventually Zuckerberg and Threads will start negotiating with influencers and media companies to exclusively post on threads and then it will get uglier for Elon

Mark already caught heat for letting Facebook be a right wing cesspool and Rooskie money literally being funneled through FB that swung the 2016 election… he lost a lot of money behind that shyt… Government was already on his ass… He ain’t trying to go back to that…

I dont think meta is targeting those people, they want the people who want a alternative to twitter.

i cant even look at twitter at work in fear of azz and tittays appearing, i save that for the car

:win:

aren't there filters to block NSFW content because ever since twitter required users to be login in to view age-restricted content I never saw NSFW tweets browsing the website. I had to use nitter to access NSFW content, that included a lot of combat stuff too.

Threads already has over 95 million posts

The Instagram-based app launched on Wednesday night and had activated more than 30 million profiles by Thursday morning.

Instagram’s new Threads app seems like it could be a hit. Mark Zuckerberg said that the app has more than 30 million sign-ups as of Thursday morning, and people who are checking it out are posting... er, threading... a lot, too. According to internal data I’ve seen, there have already been more than 95 million posts and 190 million likes shared.

All that has happened in less than 24 hours. The app launched Wednesday evening on iOS and Android (significantly earlier than the original Thursday launch time), and a lot of people are checking it out; it’s currently the top free app on the App Store.

There’s still a lot missing from Threads. You can’t delete your Threads account without deleting your Instagram account, for example, and the app doesn’t have features like DMs, a reverse-chronological following feed, or a planned integration with the decentralized ActivityPub protocol. But these launch numbers point to a promising start for Meta’s new Twitter competitor.

Now, we’ll have to wait and see if people stick around.

If anything, if all the pronouns people leave, and the alphabets people protest Twitter, it might actually be a good news for Twitter users.

All the trans advocates can go over to Threads now.
