I'm a black man myself and i'm not saying black people owe anything to anybody. i just found it really foul for you to refer to Bilal as "token negro". Slavery was common in the middle east and Africa. Islam during the time of the Prophet came and did away with that.

And when I said "elevated" I mean elevated to equal to all men. That's the whole truth, study the world 1400 years ago and you'll see how we were viewed by the whites and Arabs. The conquest of Africa even predates Islam but that's a whole different conversation..

I call him token more because of how he is trotted out by muslims everytime racism is brought up, I fail to see how this is any different than "I have a black friend so I can't be racist"

No idiot, as I've already told you a million times I have had experience dealing with Muslims on a daily basis. I was discussing Islam with Muslims back when you were still pretending to be black calling yourself an original asiatic 5%er before your adulthood conversion. And they're good people. Just like most Christians are good people. Doesn't change the fact that they're both false, destructive institutions on a macro level. That doesn't matter anyway. You don't have to know anyone who follows a religion to realize the doctrine is a piece of shyt and it has detrimental consequences in the world.

And yes, the average American does find Islam more repulsive the more they learn about. Most Americans didn't know shyt about Islam before 911, and outside of the bigots, reasonable folks were willing to consider it is a peaceful religion. Then the more they learned about it, they discovered that it was founded by a war mongering illiterate pedophile and it's holy book is chock full of dehumanizing, violent, and hateful rhetoric about non-Muslims they saw that it is obviously not a peaceful religion.

I think that article is really interesting though, I can't get the full text because it's behind the NYer paywall, but it's really interesting that in mid-20th century NYC some black dudes would rather call themselves Syrian than AA in terms of their self presentation to the outer world. Ideally they should be able to call themselves black americans and be proud of it, of course, but it's interesting that for a different identity they went for the mideast connotations
