. Everyone's pigeonholing themselves into one sub genre... These lofi dudes are just looping drums and samples, throwing anime on for visuals and thinking that's enuff to stand out against every other lofi nerd.

This is why I left that whole scene alone, it got kinda corny. There were so many creative cats from 2009-2013 on soundcloud making ill shyt on the Roland SP's and other machines, and doing what eventually became called "lofi" (though I'd say its a lazy definition). Dudes like CULP, dpee, 9planets, etc. were killing it and there were literally dozens of other cats putting up dope beats every day. Cats were doing everything from synthed out craziness to bringing back the Wu sound

They should be getting some original animated visuals. Create a character that symbolizes the beats maybe.

I love Lo-Fi but i do agree they all sound exactly the same. You wouldn't even hear who made what beat if you knew the producers-names.

This is the biggest problem... I can't identify anyhting that's a unique sound and attribute it to something only that producer does.

I heard ur tape and can say that I ain't heard that from no other beatmaker... I'm fairly confident in saying that I don't know anyone that makes beats the exact same way I do. I can never jus create a loop and a hook and leave it at that...i need to sprinkle samples and effects in there and switch it up and add shyt no ones heard before.

I think for this reason I'd never be able to put my beats on beatstars or whatever these selling places are because everyone's out here just creating a loop or two everyday, they're happy with that, and someone will cop the lease for 30 dollars. I can't just do that, if I have an ill beat going I wanna make that mine by adding my favour into it.

Lo-Fi is now just an other word for Jazzy Mellow Lush or Chill Beats.
I really like it although, those producers all sound the same and they have a very simple formula usually.
Everybody copies each other literally just like Trap did for 10 years long.
I never expected that to happen to an more alternative Hip-Hop form.

lets say everyone is making dababy, lil baby, drake type beats, the internet has apps and software where you can scan the algorithms and see what rapper gets the most attention or less and compare

so everyone could be making dababy,lil baby drake type beats, you can scan the algorithms and see maybe someone like G herbo is ranked 24th on the list and maybe start making herbo type beats which will bbost your own channel cause now people are getting supplied herbo type beats

youtube is flooded yes but more than a handful of producers have eaten well from the type beats
cashmoney AP, Ant Chamberlain, K beezy, pvlace and way too many to mention

people eating breh but just dont rely on youtube, use every source too thats the key to getting on now , you got to do all that and network and just maybe you might blow

most if not all boom bap could be considered lofi hip hop, but not all lofi hip hop could be considered boom bap. lofi hip hop tends to be way more experimental
boombap beats tends to stick to more traditional sounds. Lofi just means low fidelity, meaning you embrace any flaws and unclean sounds and use them to experiment. boombap embraces that 90s dust and warmth from the old equipment they used, so they are inherently in the same category. its just boombap kind of leaves it there whereas this scene goes further with it.
boom bap is a hip hop production style most common in the 90s which is all about sampling real life drum breaks and re arranging them on a mpc

lofi hip hop is hip hop that use low fidelity effects
