All you did was state what his ticket sales are and NOTHING about your evaluation of the music itself in your own opinion. Again, what do YOU think. Y’all are so p*ssy to admit this nikka is OVERRATED
i don't listen to kendrick lamar fool, i got no intention of speaking on his music and nothing i said suggests i do - that was something you brought up on some disingenuous timing when the topic of the thread isnt even music

youre getting emotional on the internet trying to convince folk that son doesnt have a fanbase
Fans not trying to hear that shyt unless it sounds good.
claims like this would be applicable if you werent speaking on one of the most commercially successful rappers in the world, irregardless of how you and i feel about his work

i dont see how you expect to be taken serious treating dot like some struggling artist

This is untrue but since most of these guys ain’t write 3 whole consecutive paragraphs in the last 5 years or read a book or article in the last 1-2 years then I feel like I shouldn’t be lectured by goofies who can’t hang in an actual convo.

You see what happens when these guys talk about anything useful
You argue like budden. Just because you wrote in rainbow colors, large font, and run on sentences, don't mean you smart indibreh.

I'm cool with the conscious topics if they're done right. shyt like Father Time was dope and the last verse on Mother I Sober was incredible.

But this last album was clearly an example where he was leaning into it way too much and sacrificed actual entertainment value just to make some artsy shyt.

And I got a theory he dropped this album because the expectations for new Kendrick music was so high that he knew he wouldnt meet them if he made another regular album like DAMN. That's why he went completely left field so the critics would still give him props even if social media hates it.

Cole used to be on this same shyt before on a much smaller level and people were calling him self righteous and preachy.

I remember he even said God (yes, GOD) helped him finish writing KOD. Like are you kidding me man. And people eat this shyt up more than they actually listen to the music.
He probably pulled a Frank ocean to avoid actual content for some sleepy shyt just to fill the deal. Either way it wasn’t worth the wait.

This shyt was like a grad student art thesis. At best.

Kendrick was always different

He never switched up. Only evolved and refined who he was and what he was trying to d

Problem is, people tried to box him into what they wanted him to be

Now they're disappointed because he didn't match their expectations

But I dunno, I always felt like me and kendrick are on a similar wavelength

So his music has stayed relatable and interesting to me

I mean more his fashion style than his music. Look at the pic in the first post and then go look at him in the GKMC days, there's a definite change there. As far as the music goes he has made dope music after GKMC obviously but I do think his rap style has become more "minimalist" with each album (especially on Mr Morale). Minimalism is kinda a hipster thing IMO. I'm not against any of this btw, he can and should be whoever he wants to be artistically, personally, whatever, but it's just something I noticed.

I dont know why you think kendrick wouldn't be into art

He's always talked about different authors and artists that inspired him in his music

Like how overly dedicated opened with that sample of dash snow talking

That's why I wasn't surprised mr morale was inspired by a guy like eckhart tolle

That's just the other side of kendrick

Hes a compton kid for sure, but why he can't be artsy too? :mjpls:
Even embracing Eckhart Tolle is like basement level enlightenment! This shyt is like grocery aisle philosophy marketed to people without any introspection. It doesn’t surprise me at all. At least Kanye will pop out with someone you’ve NEVER heard of. This guy Kendrick is pulling these Joe Rogan ass gurus to pretend to be spiritually centered.

He’s trying to be the rap Erykah Badu and it ain’t working.

Cole was stringing that college shyt for a minute too. Realize people just wanna hear slick shyt and he’s been on a run ever since. Thought we wanted to hear about police running up on his small town homies. We don’t.
