Surprising good profile piece that takes an unexpected turn, towards the end.
yeah, for the worst

Dudes just spilling their own trauma in paragraphs to make themselves feel more relative to pretend to add depth to the music. He took personal privilege to do his own media narcissism addition. if I was an editor id have challenged him to remove that shyt.

Drake's been doing fatherless raps his whole career. So has J Cole and countless others. Kendrick is just doing the spoken word shyt with the people who "want real shyt" in their rhymes of just dense single-use music.

I've been seen through the gimmick but hey, people claim they "listen" to this shyt.

I'll never get it.

I like the themes, production and tone of Kendrick's music but he's never had a verse that made me :ohhh:Maybe that isn't his aim, I think he is trying to take what Tupac at his most conscious did to the next level.

This isn't really a great example, but yeah all the extra shyt that Kendrick does for his image is really annoying and pretentious.

It's gotten to the point where if you don't like his music people act like you don't understand it or that there's layers to it.

He's a dope artist but he's completely aware of how marketing yourself as some musical genius does more for your music than the actual music.

It is so obvious your knowledge of music begins and ends with Drake affiliates and Atlanta :mjlol:
