You just seem like you stuck in a loop of negative thinking. You should be finding reasons to make it work, instead of finding excuses why it wont. All that hard worker stuff means nothing, we dont want hard workers, we want smart workers. Specialized workers. Pick something and focus on that one thing, in the meantime, restaurants, malls, or any other high turnover field are always hiring. Pablo, Juan, and Jose can find work and they dont have legal status or no speaky ingless. You got to hit up every place with high turnover, and accept whatever they give cuz even minimum wage is better than 0.00/hr.

post doesnt make sense breh. you said your'e not involved in anything indecent. just sounds like another excuse like others have said
Eh, you're right. I should just give it a shot. I need the loot and I need to stop making excuses. Maybe that just comes from my own fears.

U right. I guess that's because I'm just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too used to people saying "no", too used to rejection, and having little to no opportunities pop up for me. Because of that, I just feel I get trapped in that loop of thinking why it won't work instead of why it will. And it makes me hesistant to even go out there for those opportunities because of what happened in the past.

It is tough..but you gotta just keep applying and hopefully something sticks.. Did you do any internships in college? It's all about who you know out here, more than what you know. The fact that you don't want to leave NY is probably limiting what you're able to get..I interned for a large Bank in NY while I was in college, as soon as I graduated, they offered me the position as long as I was willing to leave Atlanta and move to New York. I did so..Best experience of my life, now I'm with a new and even larger Company, and back in my great City of Atlanta :blessed:

If you got fam outside of NY, definitely think about looking in those places, you never know what's out there..New York is the toughest place to get a job..You are competing with NYU/COLUMBIA grads

I have a degree and it was the reason I went out of state to NY. I like it here too much to leave now. I'd rather try to get a job going here, make my money, then try to expand my options.
You need to stop thinking so limited. Work and life has changed. Those limiting themselves to one location are really shorting themselves.

When I worked for Amazon, NONE of the managers were from Kentucky. Just think about that

Production assistant. Didn't bother trying to move up because nothing paid well and the hours were still trash. Almost everyone was miserable at the station.

I have a friend who loved it though and actually works for ESPN now. :ehh:

You was a PA at an radio station, don't radio PA get $100+ day?

What happened to your internship?
already finished that famo. back for my final year of school participating in on-campus recruitment.

Had 2 interviews so far: Walmart's Head Office for their CPA accounting training program and another in Equity Research for an Investment Management company.

Made the 2nd round for both out of 1200 applicants in each job but not the final. shyt is just very tough though.

Once this herniated disk is taken care of and once I start working just to have travel/expense/food money I'm cranking up my networking though

As far as that internship..it was beneath me. I hate to say it but even if I graduate unemployed I doubt I go back there. A salary which equates to 17 an hour isnt exactly something to sneeze at but i wouldnt want to go back there and get comfortable like many have before.

I also plan to apply out of state. Alberta, Manitoba, Vancouver even out East...fuggit. Ima do what I gotta.

breh you made a whole thread about yourself. and it didn't accomplish shyt. just a bunch of complaining, sadness and anger. capitalism is bullshyt. we get it. think of all the other people facing the struggle. they ain't creating threads about it. change the system or don't reproduce.

I feel you man. I interned at two radio stations and at Pitt. I worked hard in college in Pittsburgh because I wanted to move out of Western PA to try to live out my dreams in New York City. Something I've tried to do for a decade. I wouldn't even want to give up without trying because I just don't.

I honestly don't even want to continue this thread anymore. Thanks for all of the advice and links...I appreciate them. But I feel there's nothing more I can say to express myself in this thread without people seeing me as a "complainer" or an "excuse maker" so I'm just not going to continue.

bruh u going have to keep pushing. Take some time to relax, regroup and regather. Get a scrap piece of paper, write down your goals, and chart down how many hours you spending to hit your goals and you will hit. Job market def rough in some markets but in some markets, it's booming.

Radio business.....only money in that is in Sales/Advertisement.....not sure about the TV side. If that's where your heart is, go for it. I would say if you can average about 7-8 apps/daily, you should receive at least 5 call backs. The challenge is actually finding the jobs who's hiring so you will have to use (career builder, indeed, dice, and the rest) + google (search biggest employers in your state) + phone books if you have to....just to get company names/ideas of positions

I been in this position many a times and it's many more like myself and yourself getting fed up w/the bullshyt but this how it's going be bruh until we grind hard enough to change the reality (acquire more trades, obtain certifications, more schooling, military, start your own business, hustle, side hustle etc)

keep it pushin good luck worst thing u can do is just say fukk it......u got go hard for yours

I would, but I know people here in NYC. The only places I have "safety nets" (ie ties to people I know) are in NYC, Pittsburgh, ATL, and SF. Most of my family is in the Northeast (Pittsburgh) and in ATL. I just don't feel like picking up and leaving to a place where I know nobody and have to adjust to a different lifestyle that more than likely isn't for me just because of a job.

Sometimes a better job opportunity and lower cost of living are just better Outside of NYC. I was in your same position in NY and didn't want to leave because I was so accustomed to NYC life.

But it's a reason so many NY people move down south breh. Ima tell you like my mans from the Bronx told me before he moved to Florida "if you ain't making ATLEAST over a dub (20) an hour then NYC ain't the place for you bro" .

I finally moved down south and got paid more AND had cheaper rent :win:

You might love NYC but NYC don't love you back.
