Wasnt Popo an Indian/pakistani given the outfit?
afaik the outfit looks indeed of south indian inspiration

But the rest of the character design looks like a XIXth century caricature of a Black person

Popo himself, as a character is neither Indian nor Black nor human, he's an otherworldly being (just like Karin)

All of these are compatible

Gundam would never :scust:

Look how they did my guy in 1991
this is from 1986, when Gundam was doing it's africa arc

while they skin tone could have been darker between the soldiers, Gundam is still one of the few anime from the 80s that actually tried to make brehs look realistic and not like some racist ass 1930s minstrel show.

latest

Unlike the racist ass caveman dude from Dragon Ball which aired at the same time as Gundam ZZ in 1986, or Mr Popo from Dragon Ball Z which came out 3 years later in 1989. :martin: what's Toriyama's excuse for the bullshyt he put in Dragon Ball?

Going through this thread is nuts.

I’ve seen K-Pop fans also describe this love hate acceptance with that music from eventually seeing clips of the artists saying some disrespectful shyt about black people or just when black people are in spaces with fellow korean or white fans who start being racist when they see black people in those spaces
