Because they're not street level drug dealers and there will always be another Marlo. They kill this Marlo for Joe, are they gonna have to kill the next ones too? They're not at that level, so they don't know what killing Marlo does....will it start a war? That wouldn't be good for business. It's reasonable to believe that they may have taken care of Marlo if Joe asked (and paid), but Joe didn't ask.

What Joe did do was bring another person (Marlo) to meet them. When Vondas agrees to sell to Marlo, he explicitly tells him that no one else needs to know him, you don't think he told Joe that?

They didn't choose Marlo over Joe, they let the streets be the streets which is all they could do unless they were willing to get on those streets themselves

I guess, but I if they are all about business I assume it takes more than an briefcase full of money and "never quit" attitude to go in to business with them...at least I hope.
The whole point of the co-op was to remove the "street level" element and make it all business and Prop Joe WAS the co-op. He built it, and he ran it. So I'm still not sure why they would be so nonchalant about replacing him with a guy who in their own eyes was completely street and not at all a businessman. Like, who was more likely to bring heat from the police, Marlo or Prop Joe?

It was an uncharacteristically poor decision by The Greeks with no clear benefit but very obvious risks...

Well that was the point (or one of the points) of the co-op from Joe's perspective, but not the Greeks.

From the Greeks perspective it simply meant a larger package, this more money. They were already insulated from the street level violence.

The co-op shipment was robbed, how many times you think that happened prior to the co-op?

But how was it a poor? Joe died, Marlo went to prison, yet they continued their business. If they kill Marlo, but not enough of his muscle, then what? Maybe they come back on the Greeks? Maybe not, but maybe they kill Joe anyways out of revenge? Who knows? Greeks don't, that's not their arena.

The Co-op lasted how long? How long were they supplying Joe?

That saying never made sense :mjlol:
A pawn can reach the other side and become any player it wants. EXCEPT THE KING

Avon was king at the time. Even through all the shyt, he ended up the king of the jail. Pimping Marlo for 6 figures to even have a convo with the Russian. Getting kfc in jail. Killed like 10 dudes and set up the CO.

Marlo was the king. Through all that shyt, stayed on top. Got out the game. But kept all his money and still went out on top

Meanwhile no matter what others did. 2nd, 3rd, 4th in charge. They never rose above the king

The King stay king. Even fat dude. He died the king. But he never was anything else. King stay the king

As the old man said it, you tell that man no, and he'll keep coming back

And what if something happens to joe. You want that backup plan

They doing this on an international scale. They see these street wars and street shyt a million times. For decades. They saw what Marlo was doing and his plans to kill joe. They also saw he was smarter than joe and joe was fukking up letting Marlo so close

Basically they saw joe introduce a new guy. Prob first time ever. They then see this same guy show up without joe. Trying to cut joe out. They say no. He comes right back with fresh money again. Young Greek was still like nah. Old Greek was like chill young breh. This nikka gonna pop joe and we gonna need to sell this shyt to SOMEONE

Avon set up Marlo convo for 100k, Marlo flipped it for 10 million. Smarter business man.

Avon(Just Barksdale name in general) were the King.

Yea you got cats like Marlo who rise up and may run the streets for the time being but at the end of they day, Avon was the king. Marlo had to go through Avon(a nikka he once tried to kill) just to get a connect, and this was when Marlo was the number 1 kingpin in West Baltimore and Avon was locked away in prison.

nobody is debating that... but the king didn't go anywhere.. he was still the king of his domain.. marlo was the king of his... kings die but they never get downgraded... and pawns never become kings... they can become queens (second) but never is there 3 kings on a chess board

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way about bytch ass Prezbo, especially in this current climate. Just because he supposedly cared about Dukie doesn't take away from the fact he partially blinded a kid because of his own pride and killed a black police officer. Just another pig getting away with shyt.

Also, I wish Wallace had stayed in the country. :mjcry:

I wish Omar could have really confronted Marlo face to face.

I would have like to have seen that scumbag Clay Davis put in handcuffs.

I would have liked to have seen all the four boys make it out in some way. Yeah, I know this is real life, but after seeing when Michael and Dukie went to Six Flags, it shows how in a normal environment they could have been like any other kid.

I wish there was at least some kind of backstory to Marlo.

I wish one of the members of the coop would have said some shyt back to Marlo when he told them to shut the fukk up. Honestly, they're supposed to be OGs and I'm sure they didn't get to where they are by letting some snotty nose brat half their age talk to them like that.

It would have been good if Marlo got murked.

I wish that whole newspaper shyt never existed. All those characters were uninteresting and boring and really brought down the 5th season imo.

not to debate whether it was a poor decision or not, but maybe that was the point?

avon and stringer were kobe and shaq of west baltimore and let it slip away with dumb decisions. joe introduced marlo to the greeks and taught him everything he knew, more than he did his own subordinates and even his own family. the greeks are higher on the pyramid but not necessarily geniuses. one of their top lieutenants, sergei, was dumb enough to describe their signature murder calling card on the phone

Sergi was local talent. He was nowhere near the top men in that group. They were international criminals. They had the east coast on lock. They had most of the west also . They also had connections in Russia , Albania and Greece. All over the Greek had his hands in the mix, you notice he spoke multiple languages fluently.

top lieutenant would imply that he was in charge of a locality and reported to the bosses :francis:
