Well being human for one. But I guess that maybe to simple of an answer. I get your point about humanity having to band together against an outside force. But honestly do you really think even that would stop division, cause even soldiers frag other soldiers.

The second step involves the projection of a massive light show into the sky. yes it would stop division as long as the common threat is present then survival/self preservation takes precedent. we always have a hierarchy of concerns based on our situation.
outside of that simply being human does not unite us at all. we don't even have one country where people are on the same page let alone the entire planet. that's a pipe dream

There's been a one world government for 2,000 years. It's just that we common people aren't aware.
One world government meaning a kabal of individuals who are calling all the major shots. Major calls such as UFO disclosure. They allow their managers to run the corporation for day to day operations, and allow them to have squabbles with their competition (wars) but at the top it's one kabal.

They arn't folloowing that book, they are following Gnostic religious beliefs/texts. Alan Moore is notorious for using these beliefs [along with others] in his work. What a lot of people think is "Illuminati" or "Satanic cults" is actually Gnosticism.. or they stems from that. Scientology is an offshoot of Gnosticism as well...
The whole sacrificing a portion of the population for the greater good/betterment of humanity is from those beliefs... Hollywood projects this in a number of movies like The Matrix and a ton of other films.
