The younger generation seeing the destructive effect crack had on their elders and the word being out about how bad it was was indeed the reason why young people stopped trying crack. By time people my age came of age, we knew the deal and wouldn't dare hit the pipe. People who were teenagers and young adults in the early and mid 80's didn't know any better yet. The younger heads saw the danger and figured being dirty and stinking, fiending 24/7 and sucking dikks in alleys wasn't the business. You're not old enough to remember that time anyway, so you wouldn't know.
they were everywhere when I first got to Miami. E too. we would pop a couple, go out to the club, have a few drinks, and be fuuuuct up. then this girl I knew came to visit, she took one roofie, and slept for like 4 days

Miami is a fukked up place. You're on a good part of town one second, and you make ONE small turn and you're in shyt. Crackheads, Cubans doing Santeria, CAC crackwhores on the corners. All because you are leaving the Heat game and you miss a turn.

Did you see me post about this before or did you read my mind because that's exactly what happened. We left the Heat-Knicks game headed back to the hotel, made a wrong turn, and ended up almost starring on the First 48.

Thing is, Overtown during the day and night are two different things. Same with Little Havana.
Yeah we were in a hotel on the bay within walking distance of AA arena. We decided to take a longer scenic route on the way back and ended up totally lost. Then it got dark and my phone battery went dead. Next thing you know we're in poorly lit areas walking over crackheads sleeping on the pavement, no phone, no gun, and like $300 in my wallet. Then I see the "Welcome to Overtown historic district" sign.
My wife DVRs every First 48 episode by the way, so this was like a sick joke. Eventually we were like fukk even trying to find the hotel let's just head toward the light. Old homeless dudes are in the cut like Fredo. After a while I see a young chick talking on a cell in a well-lit area and interrupted her like "Yo can you tell me how to get to Bayside?" She have good directions and told me which areas to avoid and we made it back. When we got back to the hotel, we both admitted to each other we were scared as fukk. We joke about it now.
