don't know anyone from my generation who is into crack. The real problem right now are meth and prescription drugs.
Especially prescription drugs.

Okay, but what separates it then from the other drugs people abuse--regular powder cocaine, syrup, meth, pills, heroin etc--and warrants extra attention
frankly I think the hysteria about crack (creating the disproportionate sentencing etc) perversely caused even more problems
Especially prescription drugs.
i agree that the number of addicts has went down... y tho?I dunno breh.. the private prison industry is happy to put you in for violating any drug law including marijuana
we can go back and forth on some of the more semantic questions here but I think in terms of absolute number of addicts it's no question that the epidemic peaked in late 80s early 90s
prescription drugs are more of a problem for kids...
and the prescription drug use is getting worse because you can get it from anywhere.. I've had a chick call in a prescription for me pretending she was a doctors office. I really needed the pills and I'm not on drugs, but it made me realize how easy they are to get.
I never really had a problem w prescription drug abuse. I guess its because I figured it didnt affect my people as much but to my surprise there are lil black kids following right along.

Nah man, prescription drugs are more of a problem for adults. Because they think it's ok. Grown folks poppin vikes and valiums like skittles because Dr. Dontgiveafukk gave them unlimited refills. Same thing with oxy and sizzurp, all that lean shyt.

as far as addicts, do you think the decline has to do with abortions? I've heard that theory.
crack does not even really count anymore for people getting arrested for it.

Man just be quiet and stop embarrassing yourself. The crack epidemic fizzled down in the early 90's because the word was out on it. People in the 80's didn't realize what a demonic drug crack was when they first started experimenting with it. After a generation of zombies who would sell their own kids for a fix was created, younger heads realized that it wasn't a drug to try. Better to just sell it or leave it alone altogether. Young people stopped trying it, that's why it declined. That's why the vast majority of addicts that are still alive and not in jail today are over 40.
