Am I really supposed to discredit all MLK did because he involved in extramarital affairs:what:

As for the rape shyt, literally never heard anything about that & just comes off as obvious bullshyt. Like I’m supposed to believe he put himself in that position to laugh at rape while being the face of the movement. All this while whites were giving him constant death threats & looking for any excuse to chastise him :comeon:

Also, we can’t put treating our civil rights leaders like trading cards on some “he better than him” shyt. Especially when they both died fighting the struggle.

Are you out of your fukking mind? These white people are agenda based against historically huge black legends. Jackson. Whitney. Cosby. Russel Simmons. It's all too convenient.
Where am I out of my mind when did I say it was or was not true? All I said is I am aware of the affairs and I hope the rape part is not true damn you nikkas sensitive as fukk.

I guess we’ll find out the truth in 2027. But a couple things. Without knowing context of the relationship between the Pastor and the Women, it's hard for me to believe the word of an FBI transcriber. It's hard to understand or fathom just how much the FBI hated Dr. King. After Dr. King wrote a letter criticizing the FBI's unwillingness or inability to protect civil right's demonstrators J. Edgar Hoover had someone reach out to Dr. King with the "facts." The individual was unable to get in to contact with Dr. King and a little while later Dr. King wrote another article criticizing the FBI. From that point on, the FBI wanted to destroy Dr. King. From illegal wire taps, threatening letters, infiltrating his staff, wire tapping his assistants, surveilling his home, the FBI treated him as #1 on America's most wanted list. And it is not far outside the stretch of the imagination for a transcriber (Now you have to understand. They paid people on shifts. So a person is listening to the audio for 12+ hours a day because they never know when something will come up) to interpret something as rape just to get noticed/acknowledge by his higher ups. So until the audio gets released I can't say either way.

With that being said, MLK was a very flawed man. The allegations of sexual infidelity are definitely true. A couple months ago I talked to a person who took part in freedom summer and he said that everyone was fukking. If you read any books about the time period, you'll read about how it is alleged that Ralph Abernathy started sleeping with one of his parisonshers when she was 14 years old and continued to sleep with her after she got married. One day the husband came to Ralph's office and told him to stop, but Ralph continued and eventually the guy showed at his office again with a gun to kill him. Ralph managed to escape the ordeal. In another circumstance, one of MLK's assistants James Bevel was convicted of sleeping with his own daughters.

James_Bevel
In May 2007, Bevel was arrested in Alabama on charges of incest committed sometime between October 1992 and October 1994 in Loudoun County, Virginia. At the time, Bevel was living in Leesburg, Virginia, and working with LaRouche's group, whose international headquarters was a few blocks from Bevel's apartment.

The accuser was one of his daughters, who was 13–15 years old at the time and lived with him. At a family reunion, three other daughters had also alleged that Bevel sexually abused them.[12]Charged with one count of unlawful fornication in Virginia, which has no statute of limitations for incest, Bevel pleaded not guilty and maintained his innocence of incest. His four-day trial in April 2008 included "testimony about Bevel's philosophies for eradicating lust, and parents' duties to sexually orient their children".[citation needed] During the trial, the accusing daughter testified that she was repeatedly molested by him, beginning when she was six years old.[31][32]

During the trial, prosecutors presented key evidence: a 2005 police-sting telephone call recorded by the Leesburg police without Bevel's knowledge.[33] During that 90-minute call, Bevel's daughter asked him why he had sex with her the one time in 1993, and she asked him why he wanted her to use a vaginal douche afterward.[33] Bevel said that he had no interest in getting her pregnant.[33]At trial, Bevel denied committing the sexual act and his recorded statement was used against him.
Your heart might yearn for a simple world where "heroes are heroes" but the world is never that simple. If true, MLK's legacy will forever be tarnished. I guess the truth will come out in 2027.

however of you going to have that energy then it better apply to women and men equally.

Of course it extends to black women.

Constructive criticism seems pointless. We all know right from wrong and still decide to do what we’re gonna do. I don’t think anyone needed to teach MLK, out of all people, a lesson on morality or any of our so-called leaders who put their lives on the line for us. They are human just like we are and have their missteps. We owe it to them, at the very least, to afford them grace for falling short as humans like we all do and emphasizing the better things that they laid down their lives for.

With that said, when are we going to go in on th terrorism induced tactics perpetuated against black people by the FBI.

The US Government needs to give an account and be held responsible for this.

Dr king relationship with LBJ and the Democratic Party ultimately destroyed our entire community, instead of us vetting and choosing our leaders, they all have to go through the DNC.

A second slavery if you will...but hey, you appear to be happy about it so :coffee:

A few questions

How does the Bevel story, where he was convicted for acts that occurred in the 1990s, relate to the topic about Martin Luther King?
And more importantly, how does incest relate to the bigger picture you were talking about, adults in close quarters in Civil Rights era...having sex with other adults.

I'm not one to bury my head in the sand about uncomfortable topics, but I don't get it.

I mentioned Dr. Abernathy throwing MLK under the bus in his book earlier in this thread. Do you know if he ever spoke about the allegations (against HIMSELF) that you wrote in your post about the underage girl? I never read his book, just knew about the controversy.
