Couldn't watch the game today so had to follow on gamecast but question why didn't Shanny just go for it on 4th down instead of Gould kicking the FG?

Conservative call and putting all his chips on the defense. If we don't get the 1st down then it's the Ravens game all over again.

To be honest I'd have went for it, if we lose to a last second FG it's whatever at that point. We deserved to lose anyway so why not just try to win with that first down? besides, the defense was heavily handicapped with all these injuries so it's not like you are putting your faith in the same awesome unit that won us a bunch of games this season

This game honestly doesn't matter in that regard. We have 2 division games left, we win them and we have the number 1 seed, we lose either of those games and we're #5 or 6 regardless of if we won today or not. Whether we won or lost we'd still have to win the next 2 to wrap up the #1 seed, that the only way we get a 1st down bye, that's why I didn't mind this loss.

No it's not. If we won this game then lost against the Seahawks, we'd still be the 5th seed anyway (assuming the Seahawks win next week). It was going to come down to the final game of the season either way.

If all teams win out regardless if its seattle or niners, saints wont get the bye due to their 3 losses being vs nfc teams.

So it basically comes down to seattle/niners and packers. I gotta check seattle schedule but im pretty sure they would own the tie breaker due to common opponents? Ill have to check

No. Saints cant get the 2 seed if packers,niners/seattle, and saint win out. Its impossible. Only way saint have a chance at a bye is if GB drops a game. Other then that, its between niners/sea and GB for the bye

I don’t play what if’s. Jimmy doesn’t make things happen , if the play breaks down then he’s taking a sack. For some reason he doesn’t scramble at all. The offense scored 1 td. ( I’m not counting that gifted td after the falcons fumbled the kickoff )

That’s unacceptable vs a team as bad at Atl. If the Running game and defense fall off this team is done for.
