1) for as much as you don't want to lose, getting hit in the mouth and focusing on the fight instead of staying pristine can be important for a run.
2) Learning to play the game you're given at times. Forcing teams to account for the pass and the QB, and showing the ability to make them pay if they sell out to stop the run.
- as a corollary to this: doing that without leaning on play action as much is even bigger.
3) Proving they can play tough, division games without important cogs in their machine.
