There is no two way about this Black Panther fight scenes were weak.

You can love a thing and still critique it breh. I loved infinity war but the cg on ruffalo in the hulkbuster suit and Rhodey in the war machine suit was putrid and ILM is normally A LOT better than that.

The fight scenes in black panther especially the first one in the jungle, reminded me of Nolan’s work in Batman begins. So hopefully it gets better
Its obvious which fight scenes were coogler and which were 2nd unit

I said this right after is came out.

The Killmonger fight scene at the waterfall was good, but since we'd seen a preview of it in the M'Baku fight, it was more about the feeling of him actually losing contrasted to before when he won and showed mercy to a fellow Wakandan. Fights weren't up par for the strong character storytelling going on.

Yeah my ONLY complaint. Coogler should have hit the Russo bros up like has been mentioned. They killing the choreography game.

Just peeped it on bluray, and I can honestly say that the 1st fight scene in the movie where he locates Nakia, is the best fight scene in the movie imo. I was actually able 2 see what he was doing this time, he seemed more civil war "esque" .

I think the opening fight scene looks much better on Blu-ray compared to the theater. They made sure things could be seen better, but overall I agree.

I also wouldn't be shocked if that fight was chopped down due to time constraints. Way more edits than you'll usually see from Coogler.

The big battle was a good idea, but was probably too much trust in the 2nd unit or not enough trust in his vision. Looked like they were trying to save $$ as well..

Yeah the fight scenes on Batman begins look better on blu too. Still doesn’t change the fact it’s hard to follow a tad and needs to be clearer. But he’ll figure that out just like Nolan did hopefully without slowing everything down like Nolan did also cause those dark knight rises scenes outside of the fight with bane are boring as hell

I said the same as soon as I saw it. Check the review thread.

BP is supposed to be an elite level fighter across the entire MCU. Training since he was a child. He should be 1 punch dropping common humans.

I wanted them to develop his own fighting style specifically for these movies. Distinctly black. Dude should be dodging more and shoulder rolling like mayweather, do some 52 handblocks shyt, use his athleticism to get in and out like Roy Jones.

Elbows and knees! He didn’t use any of those.

They need to call in the choreographers from The Raid and give them free reign.

Idk about excellent breh. Why didnt they hire the civip war, winter soldier choreographers? They had a 100 mill budget

Essentially BP and Infinity War were filmed at the same time. So the Russo's got the same crew that did Winter Soldier & Civil War to work on the movie. There's definitely need to be an improvement all around with the action for part 2 though. You would think having a great martial artist like Marrese Crump personally training Chadwick Boseman and the other movie cast members, the fights would of been way better.

I know Coogler likes to work smaller less known people on his films. If so he should definitely look into Jeff Ward. Jeff Ward who has been stunt coordinator and fight coordinator for many years for Snipes in most of his action movies, he's also worked with Spike Lee many times too. He's also an second unit director too. He's a great martial artist as well. I think he would be a good fit for them if they wanted someone with experience on both small and larger scale productions. He even recently worked on Dr. Strange too. Check his IMDB page he's worked on tons of movies.

The coli hates everything :dead:
No one hates this movie...i guess for the cats whose first MCU movie was BP..the action was not a flaw. For the cats who follow MCU it's a flaw. Not a big one but a flaw nonetheless. There's room for improvement in the sequel.

The final conflict between Erik and T'Challa deserved a much better staged, choreographed, and rendered fight. It deserved a much more imaginative conclusion too. It really does suck that such a brilliant final showdown between cousins, ideologies, and instant classic characters didn't have a set piece that lived up to the weight of the build up and beauty of their final moments together.

I do like the visceral and raw brutality of the waterfall fights. Those didn't need to be sleek or sexy. And I was cool with T'Challa getting his ass kicked. This was an emotional ass journey for him and for his first solo outing, I thought emphasizing his vulnerability was fitting.

But that final fight, and even portions of other fights will be the things people look back on and say couldn't keep pace with the top notch acting, music, and writing.

Everyone involved has to step it up for the second one, especially the CGI houses. And you're right that they should stop relying on that kinetic energy blast and make sure his second outing, now firmly established as King, has a lot more bad ass moments like this.

They emphasized his vulnerability while building him up as a man learning to be King in Black Panther 1. Lets emphasize his strength, swagger, and intelligence next.
This

black panther 1 was breh at lvl 1 king
