The D (where it's so cold)
Insidious was pretty good

Agreed, it was twisted as hell and created a different kind of fear in you than the typical jump scares. I would say it's in the Silent Hill 2 vein of fear but it's more darker.

Insidious and The Thing remake are the only two recent movies I can think of that I had me "scared" atleast in the way I can remember experiencing fear as a kid. I think today's movies lack the ingredients to make scary/ creepy movies anymore. My last hope was Ridley Scott, I thought if anyone could recapture the magic of horror like he did with Alien it would be him-then I saw Prometheus.:snoop:

Thread failed as soon as you listed Paranormal Activity like it's a stand out, there's a case to be made that horror as a genre has been pretty weak for a long time...but if you thought Paranormal Activity was a quality horror movie or anything other than a bunch of jump scares (great Halloween theater going movie but not really scary at all), then I don't trust your opinion on horror period.

Yo horror heads, VHS...what'd y'all think, the stories were mostly hit or miss but that opening movie where they take chicks from the bar to the telly...that whole scenario stuck with me man.

The Ring wasn't scary and no good scary movie is rated PG-13

Uh, Poltergeist; that was PG. The Ring was pretty good as a horror movie. Was it flat out scary, probably not but it did have some terrifying moments and you felt her fear as a parent.

As for Paranormal Activity, after first viewing it hella depreciates in value.

Paranormal Activity 1 was scary for the mere fact of the girl waking up and just standing there for hours

:lawd: That was the scariest moment. You're spot on with everything you've said in this thread.

Paranormal Activity was scary? :pachaha: Man, I sold about 15 bootleg copies of that movie and tried to wacth it 3 times but couldn't make it to the end. it was a joke and I'm not sure what part of that movie was supposed to be scary.

Horror Movies are a dying breed, Even when I was young it was always the older scary movies like Poltergeist, Creepshow. I actually prefer "thrillers" like Se7en, or the original Saw to horror movies these days...
