There's no black owned banks in New York
on some g shyt im boutta relocate down south because black economic down there is booming , nikkas in NY need to just accept the L gentrification did and start a new slate because mad other ethnic groups is setting up shop in predominantly black areas in NYC while blacks is the top consumer , now that im older shyt makes me want to tear up shyt is disgusting .

It wasn't gentrification breh. We're doing the same thing we blame the civil rights generation for doing back in the 60s. We're ignoring our businesses so we can bank with cacs who discriminate us based on race.

remember back in the day how our parents and grandparents spoke about north, eastern or midwestern cities like Detroit as if it was some holy grail or mecca because it was so more advanced in racial relations than the more in your face racist places like birmingham Alabama, Mississippi, south carolina,etc?

Damn I need to look into it a little more. My understanding is that its black owned but fell on hat d times and needed a bail out like most of the larger banks during the crash.
It's still black owned with black interests and hopefully if more people supported the can take back control.

folks moved to assimilate into white culture and the american "dream", folks move around not building a damn thing, which blows my mind when cats in NYC try to slander the south when Blacks are probably doing worst Nationally in NYC when it comes to economics, dudes living in Rent control housing apartments while dudes in the south have a ton of lands and every amenity you can find in NYC minus crappy immigrant fast food spots.
I don't think that any Black people, at least not in 2015, are banking with white owned banks because they want to be with white people. I think that most Black people just don't know that these other options exist.

I keep a savings and small investment account in this bank around my way City National Bank on Broad St, it is Black owned as far as I know. Great bank customer service have had accounts with them since the late 90's. Unfortunately we need to open more banks and get our money circulating. We also need to create a chain of investment firms targeted at Black businesses, we have so much power (about 900 billion in spending power) it's not even funny, but we have to keep it in house.

There's already black owned investment firms out there (don't think they specifically target black businesses though)
The issue, like with the banks, is enough of us aren't really supporting them like we should.
There's black owned insurance agencies, investment agencies, car dealerships, banks, etc. But many of us don't even know these companies exist and even fewer of us actually bring our business to them.

Based on our current behavior, even if we did know where to start we still wouldn't put our money in black institutions. Right now about 93% of our money goes to other races.
I think its pretty clear most of us see nothing wrong with how little money we spend with each other.
This is the biggest issue, our collective mentality. How do we change it? Or maybe we can just focus on our kids/ the youth, but im afraid by then it'll be too late?
We got Industrial Bank in the DC area. I tried to open an account but I owe too many cac banks money so the brotha wouldn't accept my deposit for my own financial well being. I'm sure there are much less Black owned grocery stories.
