The only other option was for the bank to close its doors, so she was in a rock and a hard place it seemed.
we can't fall into that same trap though brethren. its pretty much africa or bust.
remember back in the day how our parents and grandparents spoke about north, eastern or midwestern cities like Detroit as if it was some holy grail or mecca because it was so more advanced in racial relations than the more in your face racist places like birmingham Alabama, Mississippi, south carolina, etc?
the whole "im gonna move up north because its better there"?
"Lets relocate to Chicago and Detroit yall.......lets go to Harlem yall...Harlem Renaissance its popping up there..."
Now decades later bro......Mike Brown and Ferguson.......Freddie Gray and Baltimore......Sean Bell and South Jamaica Queens NY.....you see where I'm going with this right? of course. this is basically showing there is no where that is safe for us....lets not get fooled again like we did in the past by saying one region was better for us...

I keep a savings and small investment account in this bank around my way City National Bank on Broad St, it is Black owned as far as I know. Great bank customer service have had accounts with them since the late 90's. Unfortunately we need to open more banks and get our money circulating. We also need to create a chain of investment firms targeted at Black businesses, we have so much power (about 900 billion in spending power) it's not even funny, but we have to keep it in house.
There's already black owned investment firms out there (don't think they specifically target black businesses though)
The issue, like with the banks, is enough of us aren't really supporting them like we should.
There's black owned insurance agencies, investment agencies, car dealerships, banks, etc. But many of us don't even know these companies exist and even fewer of us actually bring our business to them.
Yea but it's like a drop in the bucket. I think we would invest more but a lot of us don't know where to start.
Based on our current behavior, even if we did know where to start we still wouldn't put our money in black institutions. Right now about 93% of our money goes to other races.
I think its pretty clear most of us see nothing wrong with how little money we spend with each other.
