It seems to have permeated mainstream culture and books like "the body keeps the score" (fantastic book btw) have catapulted a lot of that terminology into a stratosphere of ubiquity that it wasn't in past times. For better and worse. Just like any tool some people will use it correctly and some for the wrong reasons. Hammers build houses, hammers crush skulls.
