Changed my insurance at work because going to start seeing a therapist just to see what it can do for me

Sometimes I wonder if I have healthy thoughts and behaviors

Saw this black female therapist online that im interested in seeing

Any red flags to look out for when seeing a therapist as a black male

This is my opinion:

Keep the focus on you and how you feel about yourself while in different situations.
Sometimes I have a tendency to let the Therapist go on and on without interjecting.

Be assertive with what you want to get out of your sessions. You are the client and what you say goes. 100%

Establish boundaries. If you do not want to talk about something, say so. You are ready when you are ready.

If the Therapist says you are xyz and deep within you don't believe them, say so.

Don't be afraid/worried/nervous/disloyal to see someone else. If you don't click with the therapist, they will have to understand and respect that.

Keep going to therapy to yourself, telling the people around doesn't tend to end well in my experience. They can also try to interfere in the Healing process.
