Yeah this show is bullshyt
I don’t care if the creator is black they’re using him for their own sinister methods
Do y’all ever wonder where these “creators” come from? It’s like they magically appear out of nowhere and they’re considered or pushed on to us as the “next big thing”?? They have no real biography or credited following but all of a sudden they’re inking multi- development deals with Networks.

Like out of all of the black content creators, writers etc it’s always the same revolving doors of names circulating with the same casts over and over with the questionable movies that are put out - Little Marvin, Lena Waithe and the next thing you know, they’re on Time Magazines “most influential” - most black people that I know aren’t raving about them and yet we’re into this forced acceptance with their name plastered all over from the media. If you really check the details - the movies and programs they make don’t do all that great either as far as grassroots accolades or critical acclaim in the black community. Look at the numbers - Lena Waiith’s movies have been 85% fail shyt and commercial failures in the scheme of things. Little Marvin only has 2 works in his biography. People from Chicago don’t talk about “the Chi” series in comparison with say, Baltimore with “The Wire” - so why is she promoted so heavy.

Yeah I do especially little martin
Little Marvin - IMDb
he doesn't have any other work he's really known for yet they gave him an amazon show?
celebrities from Jada to Steven King are hyping this show-up
Hollywood is definitely propping this dude up probably for something worse.

Posted this in the TLR but this explains everything.

Another self hating black filmmaker like Lee Daniels. He wants to punish all black people because he wasn’t born white, some black kids called him a gay nerd when he was a child and because he wants to please the white men that he wants to be with.

Oh it’s a Lee Daniels production, now it makes sense.

Yes!!! I saw that on my timeline too. It’s blueprint. Questionable and/or highly racially offensive movie is put out; black people code up to speak out against it, said blacklash and backlash spreads throughout social media, blue check and blavity celebs show out to support the movie; last night on IMDb when I checked most users were giving this a 1-2/10 rating - now they’re pushing 9-10/10 rating.

And to add insult to injury - spoiler: from what I read the ending was one of the those opened - ended draw your own conclusions where the black family is trying to escape from their house/neighborhood only to encounter a mob of white people and police pointing guns at them. (Which means they were all killed) No type of redemption value at all. Basically - if they showed that scene in full; it would have put this movie above the R- rating.

My guy Ashley has come a long way from being known as BashyStar to Bashy to a well respected actor

You love to see it
:wow:
There’s nothing to celebrate, never heard of dude until this movie. With all of this backlash that this movie is getting over here in the U.S. his momentum isn’t going to far - and we all know that audiences aren’t running to the theater to see many UK productions which is why your actors come over here for roles in the first place. But that doesn’t seem to be working out to well for general audiences either/ movie has a 5.5/10

This. So I guess it’s too much to just let us have a regular horror movie without babies being killed in the most graphic of ways. Yeah I said it- no spoiler alert. I know- warning points, idgaf. This is not up for debate if you’re not black.

Do you all realize that the last time that the black community had a legit black “hero” in a horror movie as representation was George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead?? back in the 1960s?? no shucking, no jiving, no victim narrative, no slave roles, no eye bucking, no first to die, no racist torture porn —- just a strong black lead character in a horror movie, period. I’m tired.

Nah, i like night of the living dead but youre forgetting event horizon

I watched the whole thing because I wanted to see what the creator's point was.
It's still a panorama out there after all...I don't leave my house for much but grocery shopping and to get coffee in the morning so I've watched a ton of shyt that ends up being trash in the last year.

Secondly, it is 2021 and everyone who isn't a racist piece of shyt knows that the 1950s was a horrible time for black folks and anyone who needed to have that illusion broken for them isn't the target audience of this show anyway.

Thirdly...horror movies are supposed to do more than horrify. They are supposed to be entertaining at their base level. Also there is a difference between horror movie scares and being shown extended scenes of a black woman being gang raped while her newborn child is murdered, or a black couple being tortured before being hanged and set on fire or any of the other countless examples of violence let loose upon the black characters in this show that had nothing to do with the supernatural aspects.

There is horror and then there is exploitation. This show trafficked in exploitation a bit too much for my taste.
Ma dukes heated cause she like the show and I said I ain’t rushing out to watch it after reading the reviews in here :mjlol:

I am still disturbed by this show and want to know how it got made.

So the main characters are all British. :beli:
I just realized it is that breh from Top Boy. :ohhh:

And google who the executive producers are for this.

You know damn well Lena Waithe aint doing shyt. The rest are cacs and two Asians. :mjpls:

And this guy who claims he is part black. David Matthews

He has a jewish mother and claims to be raised by a black dad. Wrote a book on being able to pass as Jewish. :mjpls:

I smell a Rachel Dozelial

You're giving it way too much credit.

Since you watched it and liked it though what did you think of the subplot with the racist white lady neighbor?
It was really weird how they were trying to show her backstory and then having her be kidnapped as a way to somehow make the viewer sympathize with her despite her horrific racism even though none of the shyt that happened to her with her parents had anything to do with her being a horrible person.
It just seemed like an odd pivot for the character that was being set up early on as a primary antagonist. And the kidnapping subplot just totally removed her from the rest of the show which was also an odd creative choice.

You're right I did. I gotten to the midway part where EVERYTHING WENT LEFT. Fucck this show.
