Michael should have banished Fredo to Thailand or some ish so he could live out his days in misery and whores.

On fredo defense though he wasn't crossing Michael with the intention that he would be shot up though right?.

Fro. What I understand Fredo was trying to make a move so he could seem useful and like he did some shyt...he didn't know he was being used to undermine Michael nor have him killed.

I can't remember what info he gave up though I gotta rewatch again.

Sidenote in the novel Mike cuts off his sister credit when she was on a cross Atlantic cruise with her new husband and so she divorced him and decided to kiss the ring and return to the family.

While Fredo didn't know they would try and kill Michael he is still complicit, there is no way to spin the betrayal

He was weak and stupid and woulda no doubt flipped eventually. Couldn't trust him at all. He respected his mom enough to wait till she was gone before doing it. The patience:wow:

Fabrezio's job was to protect Michael. He was old school Sicilian. The Corleone family would've rewarded him with a green card if that's what if wanted.

True ..no defense for him...dude was desperate for America.

The movie didn't add this in but Sicily was always poorer in comparison to Mainland Italy...and then this was after the war so already rural with not much resources..the island was a bit in ruins..that gives him a reason I guess to why he betrayed Michael...I think it was jealousy main thing too.

Some American with not even full grip of Sicilian language who is only in Sicily because he is in hiding..then bags a beautiful Sicilian woman..meanwhile fabrizio is desperate wanting the American lifestyle that Michael is running from. He sitting there being a bodyguard for a man he probably has little respect for...who bagged a broad he can only fantasize about.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Fabrizio's betrayal was so cutthroat that he was originally going to get his comeuppance and be executed by Mike, in person.

But I've heard different reasons as to why they took this scene out whether it was due to the effects looking bad, to Al Pacino accidentally injuring himself to Coppola & company realizing that it would be too risky for someone of Michael's stature to personally get his hands dirty, so they went with the car bomb at the pizzeria instead, which also sadly got deleted. I was always pissed that Fabrizio actually got away with his betrayal.

Yea I agree. Someone of Mike's status shouldn't be the one busting his gun. That's what the wolves/soldiers are for. Although I'm curious to see how that scene would have turned out.

Coppola should get bored after his next movie and make a "complete godfather cut", with this, and the scenes in the casino with Al Neri showing how he was such a factor (they made him look like a gopher when he is a straight hitter and Michaels most loyal and reliable hand).

Damn, I just realized Fabrizio's betrayal never comes back up...is there any dialogue or anything that hints at revenge taking place?

Been a while since I've seen part 1, and part 2 I last saw around Christmas and it was on TV w/ commercials so I wasn't paying full attention.
