:bryan::bryan::bryan: Jordan Henderson.

They should have took Shelvey.

You mean a perennial team of the year UCL champ Luka Modric and multiple La Liga and UCL champ Ivan Rakitic?

against...who?

A talented yet fragile Deli Alli and Jordan-fukking-Henderson? Literally I cannot think of a more milquetoast footballer than Jordan Henderson...he might as well be named "Default Player".

One of those sides has one of the best performing midfields in the WC...another doesn't. And while I think Sterling and Kane are x-factors...it doesn't mean anything if they can't get the ball...you saw what happened to Lukaku today.

The match is won in the middle of the park. I know the England brehs are optimistic and excited...but don't sleep on this Croatia team. :sas2:

I've said it over and over, Henderson is the biggest reason I regret quiting soccer. If he was around while I was growing up, I would have used him as a benchmark wouldn't have stopped. :mjcry:
Hinestly its not just skills that seperates an average footballer from the elites but also endurance. Very few players can play 90 minutes at a high level. Kante could probably play 900 minutes.

I think it was one of the Neville brothers who also mentioned that, some players are not naturally talented and they try to outwork you and that is even more pronounced historically for England and the type of players they have produced in the past. Their typical 6 had to hard charging running into challenges type of player even though they have produced midfield controllers like Scholes, Carrick, Wilshere in that one season. At the top level even the most skilled person can look average, I read a post on Redcafe about a guy who knew Wes Brown when he was young and he said he could destroy everyone and score at will and yet at the next level he had to defend. Even the Arsenal IG posts Wellbeck dribbling and showing some skill that he couldn't pull off in a competitive game.

Think Southgate played with a back 3 to compensate for the lack of a decent CM, one of the defenders like Stones can step in and distribute but the compilation had like 1 successful pass. Read that the tactic was to release early balls over the top but those passes were just looping over the midfield and gave no chance to the forwards.
