"Luka Modric has accused English journalists and pundits of showing a lack of respect to Croatia’s players and admitted his teammates had used criticism to motivate them to victory against England in their World Cup semi-final.

Modric impressed as Croatia came from behind to win after extra time in Moscow but the Real Madrid midfielder was scathing in his reaction towards sections of the English media, some of whom had predicted an easy win for Gareth Southgate’s side.

“People were talking … English journalists, pundits from television,” he told ITV. “They underestimated Croatia tonight and that was a huge mistake. All these words from them we take, we were reading and we were saying: ‘OK, today we will see who will be tired.’ They should be more humble and respect their opponents more.

“We showed again that we were not tired – we dominated the game mentally and physically.

“We should have killed the game even before extra time. This is an amazing achievement for us – it’s a dream come true after such a long time. We are in the final and that is the biggest success in Croatia history. We have to be proud.”"
Croatia motivated by England’s lack of respect, says Luka Modric

Look at them trying to score while Croatia was celebrating :mjlol:

How embarassing. Even a pub team knows you can't kick off in that situation. And they fukked it up too because Rashford was offside :deadmanny:

This is why Europe should get less spots, they have teams who don't even understand the most basic rules of the sport :camby:

England played 600 minutes at this world cup and managed six shots on target excluding set pieces and penalties.

0 against Croatia, 1 against Sweden, 0 against Colombia, 1 against Belgium, 2 each against Panama and Tunisia.

Saudi Arabia played 270 minutes at the World Cup and managed six shots on target excluding set pieces. 5 against Egypt, 1 against Uruguay and none against Russia.

But somehow Super Jack figures them out? :beli:

Jack had issues with mid table teams when Arsenal couldn't win away from home for months. But somehow he has success against Croatia in England's 6th game at the WC?

:beli:

I wish Jack the best at West Ham but his time has passed.

Maybe, maybe not but at least he'd offer another option..He's a natural central midfielder unlike Alli and Lingard, he can stick a foot in and looks forward when he gets the ball. He was Arsenal's best player in most games last season

England need a proper ball playing centre midfielder. Henderson can not play forward under pressure and when there is no pressure the balls over the top are always off. A young Michael Carrick would of been amazing to have in the 2nd half when England were visibly rattled, to calm everything down then eventually play forward better.

Southgate is a great man-manager but a bit naive tactically.

Kane is not that guy. Imagine his Golden boot highlight reel? Lord.

With maturity, I believe the English backline will be very good.

The British media completely dismissed the Croats - The optimism then theres the British way LMAO, discussing the final, wow. Modric spoke out and SHAT all over them after the game - This is a set of seasoned, cultured and mentally strong players.

England overachieved and didn't really play any great football, however they can build on this. Take the confidence gained forward and establish themselves as a competitive team in world football but a lot of work still needs doing.

Now for the fukkery...

:mjlit:

Motherfukk all these imbeciles screaming "It's Coming Home" in my area, on my travels and at work LOOOL. Yo the arrogance and complete lack of footballing knowledge was excruciating.

World in Motion as a song >>> Footballs Coming Home.

Way more humble.

:sadcam:

When are Ghanaians gonna produce? We don't even have a football association.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FINAL!
