Ronaldo was like a teenager when he played with some of those old heads. Besides Couto being like 40 he only played with him and Rui Costa once, Figo twice.
And you still haven't answered his question, are you comparing Aguero, Higuain, Di Maria, Dyabala, Otamendi, Rojo hell people like the best striker in Italy Icardi who is worth more than Ronaldo himself on the market, players like Lavezzi and Pastore couldn't even make team and they would've been the best players next to Ronaldo in Portugal. To Nani and Quaresma who were the other top guys next to Ronaldo for the longest :gucci:.

No one said that the team was great, they said that the talent in the team was next level and Portugals was not. They have a bunch of youngins now though and they've always had a really solid coaching and work together well as a group. While Argentina managed to do good things with garbage management and players choking under pressure.
Dybala has never scored a single goal for Argentina, Aguero has never scored a goal at the World Cup and is injured half the time. There are way better defenders out there than Otamendi , is he supposed to be Baresi ?Pepe is way better than he has ever been in his career. Is Rojo way better than Contraeo when he used to play for Portugal? Icardi like Dybala has 0 international goals, 17 appearances between them and not a single goal in friendlies or competitive. The reason Lavezzi and Pastore don't make teams is because they were bad when they played, Gago outperformed them in one of the Copas. There is a big difference between international football and club football, some players cannot keep up the level when it comes to internationals. All i see is the assumption that the best club players form translates to internationals which is false, it is next level talent for their clubs not their country. There is a reason in 2018 that this was their record in qualifiers

Nah, he isn't getting past Germany with that squad either. Dybala and Aguero have done nothing on the international stage , Tevez has been marginally ok and Higuain has not been reliable for Juve in crunch time, it says a lot that even with Higuain's bottling he has actually been better than the other attackers not named Messi. Argentina without Messi in the qualifiers alm Dybala wasn't even certain to get in the 23, like i said you look at the names and think that's a stacked team but look at the performances. Argentina were better all round in 2005-07 with Crespo, Veron, Riquelme and Cambiasso. Argentina without Messi won 1 game in 7 in the qualifiers with all those players

And Zanetti and Sorin still playing at a high level :whew:

The way they lost the 07' Copa America will forever be :russ: Brazil came in with a B Team and crushed their buildings in the final :dead: neither that generation nor the next (current) were able to recover :wow:

Yeah that ended Pekerman era style but man they played the best football and Brazil were just goons+Robinho or Elano and took Riquelme out the game. From 05 to 07 they were quite balanced but the midfield became trash. They went from 07 midfield to that 2010 team that relied on Mascherano to hold the midfield and throw like 4 or 5 forwards. A further irony is that all these Argentine coaches are getting appointed to manage national teams and Poch/Simeone from the 90s team have had a boost in reputation kinda like the Italians with all these coaches but bad NT.

Ah I loved that era when Brazil dominated Argentina in those two Copa Americas. :ahh:

Those racist Argies were :mjcry: in 2003. Adriano’s last minute gol.
And in 2007 Dunga surprised us when they crushed Argentina brutality with a B squad in 2007 when everybody saw them as the favorite. The more losses they piled up the more pressure they are under. God forbid they go through a penalty shootout in the knockout stages. :sadcam::lupe:

at goals from open play , at creating chances for other players.... a much better natural goalscorer

Ronaldo is better in the air and at free kicks ......

Messi is more consistently creative than Ronaldo, and the scariest player in terms of being able to pull something off nobody can predict, but he's not as mentally strong. Take away an Iniesta, Xavi, Neymar, Dembele, etc. and Messi struggles. Ronaldo is Ronaldo wherever he is. Messi is maybe the most creative attacker ever, but he's a weaker mentality than CR7.
