The Amerikkkan Idol
The Amerikkkan Nightmare
It is not ignorance. It's an acknowledgement of how shyt actually worksyou absolutely illustrate the point im making - in ignorance about this issue you want to defend something that really is indefensible - because you speak as if the dahomey are separate from the Agojie; the dahomey WERE the agojie... the dahomey were the women warrior of a tribe that all profited from the practice of enslaving other africans to sell them to the europeans-
youre statement is akin to saying that there is a difference between texans and southerners when it comes to slavery... when the reality is texans were southerners and they participated in slavery... someone writing some fictionalized story about how the texans fought against slavery is a lie just like this movie is a lie - these women didnt fight against slavery - they faught for slavers and enabled the institution of slavery/
and saying it should be allowed to distort because noone reallyis around - thats silly - hell its about a subject that a lot of even africans are still affected by - lupita nyongo even left the film because the movie was a distortion of the truth because of the violence that that the tribe did to other africans
Lupita Nyong’o on ‘Woman King’ Departure: ‘It Wasn’t the Role for Me to Play’
Lupita Nyong'o explained she was cast in "The Woman King" opposite Viola Davis but ultimately parted ways with the project.www.indiewire.com
and this further illustrates the point about a movie that is made to be a story what we want to here rather than about what really was the truth especially when its based on something like slavery which is already white washed minimized or just not even acknowledged in regular factual history.
need to educate yourself because you are more wanting to defend something because its shyt you like, rather than because its something that should be defended - what youre doing is no differnet than someone defending Gone with the Wind as acceptable eventhough its the very shyt that is all about whitewashing and minimizing racism and prejudice and romanticizing a Southern instituton that is rooted in brutality and inhumanity ....
The Agojie were in service to their king. They didn't run Dahomey.
Texans aren't subservient to The South.
Texas was it's own republic that joined The United States, a big difference.
This is akin to being mad that police officers or military people who serve an evil empire are being glamorized in movies.
Oh wait, that happens EVERY fukkING DAY in this country.
There's tons of movies glamorizing the police or military that go around the world bombing, killing, and pillaging people of color
Do y'all organize a boycott of every movie glorifying the American military?
No. It wouldn't make sense.
Yes, Amerikkka's an evil empire, but yet the troops are respected in every corner of our society for the most part.
Again, it's not a documentary, it's fan fiction, the same way tons of movies about empires are fan fiction.
Take it as entertainment
