As opposed to Roman Polanski who raped an underage girl and not only got an Oscar but a standing ovation? Where is the scale or metric for what offense deserves what punishment versus another offense and the matching punishment? Even more so, you run the risk of cheapening the Oscar to something that can be entirely and utterly effected by forces outside of a given work. It no longer becomes an award of merit in a given field and instead becomes one attached to one's behavior. It risks becoming an award not based on merit.

That's the problem. Will's offense is not on par with those other people mentioned, and it becomes an even deeper issue when you start combing through every winner's life. Tacit support for someone problematic can soon become grounds for an issue. Even more so, the award itself stops being about merit and ability and instead, who is the most sinless. The award becomes useless. That's a terrible precedent.

When you portray being a perfect good guy, you gonna get criticized more than the a$$hole that does it multiple times. You do interviews saying that you don't write curses in your raps and very calculating in making sure you're seen in the best light possible, when you do crazy shyt the world is going to bug out. You painted yourself to be above all that so you can't run to "oh I'm human, I make mistakes" when you been trying to keep that out of your image for 30 years to the public

With just this or everything else? In any case, I don't see them taking the award away and it would create more problems than fix since it would effect nominees past and present as well. Hell, I or others could pop up and start accusing all the celebrities we met of impropriety just to create chaos. It's a terrible way of doing things. Like all things, it should be handled in a systematic manner not an emotional one.

Yep you said the truth and your pops spitting truth too. My dad always told me don't ever be a fool, make sure to think things through and under stand the consequences of your action before you do it.

The reason for this is he grew up in the projects poor as hell and most his friends were killed, got on drugs or got locked up. He was one of the few who went to college and made it out. So he would stay on me as a kid about using my head and not thinking with impulse.

As a kid he would drive me around his old neighborhood showing me his old friends who got locked up or on dope living out in the street. He would be like yeah that is such and such he was headed to college on a athletic scholarship, but he decided to go with his boys to rob a liquor store the night of prom then had to do 10 years in prison. Or there go blah blah he got in an argument in a dice game and shot a dude he did 25 years in prison. He would look at me and say don't be like them fools trust me a impulse decision will fukk your life up forever and there ain't no time machine to go back....
