As opposed to Roman Polanski who raped an underage girl and not only got an Oscar but a standing ovation? Where is the scale or metric for what offense deserves what punishment versus another offense and the matching punishment? Even more so, you run the risk of cheapening the Oscar to something that can be entirely and utterly effected by forces outside of a given work. It no longer becomes an award of merit in a given field and instead becomes one attached to one's behavior. It risks becoming an award not based on merit.

@High Art I wasn't necessarily talking about his personal life. We all should make an effort to be decent people. This was the brand that he calculated which could be a part of his personal life. Nobody really had a bad word to say about Will until things about their personal life came into the news that seemed different than what his brand was known to be.
