This was a PS Plus game I think in November and originally released on ps4 in Jan.
It is kind of a isometric hack and slack skash/twin stick shooter hybrid as you can and need to do both.
The hook of this game is actually quite cool. You are playing through a 1950s B film Sci if flick, while the director of the film does a DVD Commentary narrating.
This is bar none, one of the funniest games I've played. The director is a total sleeve bag and his stories about not paying staff,or just generally being a cheap piece of shyt always gives me a chuckle.
To best describe it,it's like playing through an ed wood film as he narrates.
It's quite a clever premise and serves the game very well. There's even a hook/twist in the final act that's pretty Damm good.
Visually they even have that rough 50's film grain filter to really drive it home. The characters and enemies are all straight out of a b film. It really nails this.
However, the game play itself is just merely serviceable. I think they knew that which is why they had to really dress it up.
You can upgrade your guns and melee weapons but it's not particularly deep or interesting.
You literally are scaling a huge tower throughout the whole game. At any point you can jump off and use your jet pack to land safely. The game has teleport docks scattered everywhere that you can travel to at any time. It also conrains pods as you can switch characters at any point between a robot a man and a woman.
Overall, I played through this in 2 sittings. It was around 5 hours and for the most part I enjoyed my time. Imaging housemarquee game play would have made this a must play.
As is its an enjoyable experience if flawed.
