Currently in-between playing Just Cause 3, Pokemon Y, and Super Mario 3D Land.

Got a bunch of PS4 games in the mail today and started playing three of them today:

Onechanbara Z2: Chaos -- t*ts, gore, awesome weapons and combos. What's not to like? Very arcadey, but fun.

Among the Sleep -- interesting indie game where you play a 2-year old who goes in search of his mom in the middle of the night with his teddy bear that has come to life. I'm not even sure if you can die in the game, but it's creepy as hell. I'm sure nothing is what it seems in the game, but it has a lot of great atmosphere and already made me jump once. :pachaha:

TMNT: Mutants In Manhattan -- I know this got mixed reviews, but I liked Transformers: Devastation and this seemed like it would be more of that but with TMNT. I love the art style and it seems like a fun beat 'em up to me so far.

Entwined is the first game from a new studio pixelopus. Sony formed them in 2014. I love that Sony is still out here creating new studios, small and large alike. Its what separates them from microsoft.

It's a rhythm based game and is much in the same vein as flower.

It's a game you put on and try to just live relax and live in the experience using sights, colors and music.

For a first effort it's not bad. It's not great either. I enjoyed the gameplay of controlling the two different animals with each joystick. I felt they could have expanded on it and really made this game challenging. Forcing you to use your coordination and throwing more complex patterns at you with real consequences could have improved this game for me. Maybe that would have frustrated people and missed the point of what they were going for but I digress. I'll be keeping an eye out for what the studio does next as theirs some potential here.

6/10

Threw 'Oreshika' (PSV) in the bushes with maybe a fifth of the game left. Too much grinding and repetition.

Finished 'Abzu' (PS4), cool game, beautifully designed. Have 'Bound' (PS4) on the backburner for the time being as I play 'Dishonoured'(PS4) which is great, although I'm too impatient to play it stealthy all the way through.

Also playing 'Trails of Cold Steel' (PSV) which has a cool combat system, but I'm not sure about the story/world/characters yet.

Playing 'Trails of Cold Steel' on my PS Vita as of right now. Some general comments:
  • Story and characters are pretty good by JRPG standards.
  • Combat is nicely balanced in the sense you have strong abilities but so do the enemies. However aoe buffs and aoe delays make the normal enemies easy even on hard difficulty, while some of the bosses can be easy as well...if you know what you are doing. If you suck at the game I can see you getting smashed though.
  • The side quests get worse as they go along. Basically a lot of fetch quests, but the reason for them and the story around them gets less interesting as you go along.
  • Dungeons are nicely sized and never over stay their welcome.
  • Generally I would say its the best and most consistently enjoyable JRPG I've played for a long time.

Going to finish off the Dishonored DLC this weekend.

I'm still trucking through Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Really enjoying and glad I took a shot at it.
