This is his worst album. Feels regressive from the last two albums, which explored similar sounds with more personality. This just sounds...sterile. Very crispy and well engineered, prob sounds amazing on the right system. But Weeknd doesn't provide anything to these tracks. You need a more dynamic vocalist here because he sounds like he's droning at various points. This would probably be a fun...Gaga album.

I liked After Hours a lot but this is like the worst aspects of After Hours.

Tory Lanez doesn’t have one original bone his body and people are really comparing him till to the weekend lol

This album is good.

imagine still wanting the weekend to make the same music he did in 2011
"nikkas want my old shyt, buy my old albums"

this album is great. Weekend was turning to 80s drive music vibe since Starboy.

His worst album. I expect it to do well though. Feels like he's been fighting and bucking going all the way with this sound for half a decade and finally said fukk it y'all want this corny 80s synth shyt here is a while album of it. Sad because it does feel like a backstep after After Hours which I think is probably his strongest major release to date. On AH he gave us a little bit of everything, and it felt balanced. No sound overstayed it's welcome. I only like Best Friends, Is There Someone Else?, Heart Break, Take My Breath Away and the Jim Carrey outro.

What was missing for me is rapping. Abel at heart is a rapper. Not the best rapper even tho he can be, but he brings a level of kanye like charisma to rapping in a style that’s beyond Kanye’s vocal reach. No heartless, faith, or snowchild is really disappointing.

And I kinda get what u mean by dynamic, but Abel’s best singing is better than Gaga’s best singing. I think Hurricane proved that.

But I agree about this being something that would fit Gaga more than Abel. Gaga would benefit from this high level mixing, but ultimately her attempts to sound interesting wouldn’t be able to make up for the fact that Abel is simply more interesting.

While the arrangements were boring on this album, vocally, he improved upon what he was attempting with alone again and did it for the span of an album.

This is my take after one listen. The way this album was dropped felt suspicious to me. Kind of like that EP. This seems more about production value than music.
