Man giving this a second listen and it's even better. I really don't listen to Weeknd's music but this got me wanting to :mj: every track. Beats are on point, melodies are on point, lyrics are on point, loving the concept - man, this is a dope ass album. Only thing I would do is remove Lil Wayne's verse I Heard You're Married.

I tried listening to that Tory Lanez album again after reading yalls comments and it's just :scust: That shyt ain't got no flavor, no boom, no rhythm, pure mayonnaise.

saw a Pelaton commercial was using take my breath

Forget sales. The royalty checks from use will keep him well fed.

Years ago when Kanye West was working on Graduation, he specifically stated he was aiming to create something that would play well on stage, a large stadium, and to a lesser degree be easily accessible via television/film. IMO most/all big name acts since have considered this the driving force most when putting a project together.

This album and it’s sound is a reflection of that ambition to create something bigger than life.

I like Take My Breath but overall this album doesn’t have enough “punch” or “edge” sonically. Everything is too Z100 for me. I can’t really compare him to Mike because all Mike’s music was “hard” sonically. Hard ass drums with strong vocal performances that evoked real emotion. Weeknd’s new shyt lacks that

Dude killed it! The whole theme of the album is tied up with what he’s saying in the narrations.

Early on in the thread, I had said Jim Carrey was gonna add something special to this in the same way Morgan Freeman did for Savage Mode II. Has me wondering if this will soon become a trend (More concept albums narrated by big Hollywood names)

I'm not sure about the story behind Morgan Freemans involvement with 21 & Metro for Savage Mode II, but Weeknd and Jim Carrey have a friendship and it shows.

Imagine a concept/storytelling album.....Raekwon having Ray Liotta or Robert Deniro narrate an album, Ghostface having Robert Downey Jr, etc....

The Weeknd cares a lot about sales, though. This flop (by his standards) will hurt his ego. This shyt extremely terrible, so hopefully it makes him go in another direction musically.
