Game of Thrones had a better ending than the Star Wars saga tho :lolbron:
it actually didn't which is crazy

at least the new fans can be meh to it or whatever... that shyt wasn't even that good in the first place

I've never seen a show fall off quite like GoT did. People actively tried to forget about that shyt and wipe it from memory.

:what: Star Wars was event cinema, it was BIGGER than just a movie franchise and they have completely tanked it. Random ass movies made more at the box office than the CONCLUSION of Star Wars..

That's how bad they fukked it up.

My problem is mainly with how they handled Jon. He could’ve at least had a little battle with the Night King after all the foreshadowing. Then as it looks like he’s about to be killed by NK Arya could’ve done what she did.

Also don’t like Jon being sent away. I think they should’ve had it where he decided he wanted to go north and get away from everything, not that he was banished there

The Walking Dead. It’s never had the same prestige but it was just as popular. It’s funny how the two most popular shows of the 2010s will be looked back on quite poorly. In 2015, no body could stop talking about either show and how much they loved the characters, plot, etc. In 2020, nobody can stop talking about how they're garbage.

As someone that intensely read the book series and followed the show from season 2, season 8 didn’t upset me that much because I saw were it was going in season 5. Season 8 is in line with what they were doing after season 4. The shytty plot lines, the cheap surprises, poor dialogue, and messy wrap up of character arcs happened way before season 8. Plot lines such as Sansa and Littlefinger, Arya in Braavos, and Dorne are in a completely different direction in the book.

People allowed it because you were still getting moments you wanted like Jon becoming King of the North and Dany sailing to Westeros. Honestly, if season 8 ended with Jon/Dany/incest baby on the throne, a lot of people would have accepted the bad writing.

Really rewatch seasons 5-8 none of it makes any sense. Season 7 is arguably worse than season 8.

They removed a lot of complexity from characters too.

In the book,

Dany does actually show a bit of a dark side that would make her heel turn more understandable. For instance, she tortures children in order to get information from their father. She also has a prophecy and vision that align with her season 8 fate. For instance, she will have three lovers. One will be her soulmate, another will will be lust, and the third will bring her misery. Drogo is her soulmate, Daario is lust, so that leaves Jon for misery.

She will also be betrayed three times. Jorah betrayed her by withholding that he was a former spy and Book Daario will probably betray her. That leaves Jon again.

Arya is the most family oriented of the Starks. She is intensely close to needle because it reminds her of home. Book Arya is also extremely friendly and charismatic.
“The Lone wolf dies but the park survives” is a book Arya line given to Sansa on the show.

Arya after season 6 isn’t Arya at all.

Jon is far more intelligent and ruthless in the books. He also has a dark/selfish side. You can see the Targaryen side in book Jon mixing in with Stark personality traits while the show makes him a stereotypical Stark.

Book Tyrion has a straight up evil side. I won’t say anymore but he has some messed up thoughts and rapes a sex slave.

Book Sansa is actually still in the Vale and learning under Littlefinger. I can see them making power moves to get control of the Vale’s army to take back winterfell. I don’t see her meeting up with Jon before the Battle of Winterfell and it honestly shouldn’t have happened on the show. Withholding info about The Vale made her look like an untrustworthy idiot and ruined her character growth. Sansa was never meant to be in Winterfell with Ramsey. It’s a servant girl that the Boltons force to lie and say that she’s Arya Stark. In the books, Sansa and Jon will probably form an alliance through correspondence and the Vale army will arrive just in time.

Book Bran is still extremely boring but at least his plot makes sense so far.

I've always said it's not what they did, it's how they did it.

You wanna kill The Night King relatively early in the season, by whoevers hand....ok, cool. But you gotta build up another antagonist....which should've been Dany....but they mishandled the fukk out of that, too.

So in the end it was basically twice as bad....because not only did you have people upset with how NK went out....you had people upset they dropped the ball with Dany, too. Not even counting the people upset she turned evil, in the first place.

Any half way competent writer could've taken the exact same plot points as season 7 and 8 and made it somewhat decent. Or, bad writers could've worked it out with more time and resources. But in the end they had incompetent writers and a rush to wrap the show up. :francis:

I'll give you the Walking Dead, but that was a slow walk towards obscurity.

GoT went from GOAT lists to not even talked about faster than that USC team that ran into Vince Young
