I don't think its over yet, but wonder if they have to make promise that COD can never go exclusive. Also, $70billion for ABK seems way overpriced with COD eventually losing it's popularity, Overwatch 2 losing players, and other IPs seem to be losing value too imo.

Yeah, they should take the $3billion L at this point if they have to sell COD franchise and other concessions. Also, this doesn't really ruin their plans since it was Activision desperate to sell to big tech, so it's whatever. I think this ruling only ensures that you can't go out and buy a publisher that is a public company. I think they got lucky with Bethesda since it was a private company.

Not gonna read all that CMA shyt but from the beginning MS should had put in writing that the MAIN entry of the big franchises like COD, Fallout, etc. will continue being multi along with the GAAS games, make the DLCs exclusive or time exclusive to Xbox and PC, exclusive spin offs, early access to new releases to xbox/pc users and exclusive spin offs.

Maybe that would had helped instead of their 10 years BS, 10 years in today's landscape is pretty much 1 or 2 releases of a AAA franchise.

Damn the fact that Microsoft is going through all this bullshyt and they have to sell off call of duty. You know damn well Microsoft don’t give a fukk about the rest of the dusty ass activision IP. They might as well say fukk the deal.

Yeah, whether the deal goes through or fails, large scale publisher acquisitions are completely off the table, at least by platform holders. Bethesda buy out ultimately came back to bite them in the ass.

They could keep Fallout exclusive, even. They already closed Bethesda.

Really, they should just say main entries for COD and Diablo will stay multi forever and make DLC time exclusives/spinoffs console and PC exclusive. I'm no lawyer, but that seems like it would address the remedies that CMA wants.

I'm torn because on the one hand, big mergers tend to be bad for consumers in the long run, but on the other hand, Sony's arguments about this shyt are terrible. They're out here locking up Square-Enix games from going to Xbox on the one hand and crying about exclusive CoD on the other. Classic Oochie-Wally/One Mic situation here.

they said the same shyt about Bethesda which was a lie. It’s now come back to haunt them
