Huge big brain move, Sony and the CMA was trying to lil bro Nintendo as not really being something COD would be on because it's "too violent" aka they not really in the mature gaming space.

Only for MS, steam and Nintendo to all hammer out 10 year deals in no time.

This tells me that steam, and Nintendo have good relationships with MS.

Nintendo usually stays out of this kinda of thing. They didn't have to do a deal of any kind.

But then doing so either means they are in favor of MS or they truly don't care.... Or they really still just don't like Sony lol.

I think it's a bit of all 3 tbh
I think there's a decent relationship there since was able to appear in Smash and there is also that Goldeneye port. Also, Nintendo doesn't only want to be the family friendly platform and they want in that microtransaction money too.

We’re happy that Microsoft wants to continue using Steam to reach customers with Call of Duty when their Activision acquisition closes. Microsoft has been on Steam for a long time and we take it as a signal that they are happy with gamers reception to that and the work we are doing. Our job is to keep building valuable features for not only Microsoft but all Steam customers and partners.

Microsoft offered and even sent us a draft agreement for a long-term Call of Duty commitment but it wasn’t necessary for us because a) we’re not believers in requiring any partner to have an agreement that locks them to shipping games on Steam into the distant future b) Phil and the games team at Microsoft have always followed through on what they told us they would do so we trust their intentions and c) we think Microsoft has all the motivation they need to be on the platforms and devices where Call of Duty customers want to be.

If what Microsoft is doing is so bad for the Industry wouldn't more companies speak out? You would think they would all band together to stop the destruction of our beloved industry but its only Sony and Google. Everyone else doesn't care or is in the support of. :jbhmm:

This story has been drawn out so much it’s become boring. Wake me when it’s actually dead and dissolved like AT&T and T-Mobile was.

The headline is more inflammatory than what is really happening. This is the expected course of action
It’s been over a year since this was announced. Every other week there’s some shock and awe heading that effectively amounts to postering between the parties involved and nothing meaningful has happened.

Until one of these major governments comes out and says under no circumstances will this deal be allowed to go through it’s just a bunch of noise.
