I read the article. Reads very fanboyish.

Perhaps, but also very true. I'm on record saying I'd prefer this not to go through (more for selfish reasons) and see MS wild out with the money.

I think they'd have to respond pretty aggressively if this falls through, hopefully that would also mean more day and date 1st party games and at that point probably 3rd party games too.

I'm the opposite & despite me preferring Sony's PlayStation, I'd like the deal to go through.

The CMA is pretty strict and that's why I laugh at some of the takes on the net. It'll probably go through however there will be concessions that MS will have to make.

Yeah Microsot gotta play hard ball now. Sony playing dirty as shyt
How is this even legal. They can dictate what multi-platform developers do on other consoles?
This specific move, I can’t condone, no matter who does it.
And fukk ABK for signing that BS contract

It's legal, you can through your weight around like that when you dominate the market share like they do.

Either you do this or it doesn't release on or console, or you get no promotion or air time from us etc etc.

It's been a super common thing from Sony since last generation combined with timed exclusives and japanese support it's a miracle any games even make to exclusively to Xbox almost that ain't 1st party.

Spooky for Sony if the deal goes through
Spooky for Sony if it doesn't go through
Unceasing stan babble :russell:
Yeah, it's getting boring watching all the faux concern over all of this. Now the new surprise is COD not coming to Gamepass for a few years upon a previous contract between Sony and Activision. No different than the various exclusivity deals that were all the rage last gen and the generation before that.

More news at 11.

:dahell: Jim Ryan and PlayStation seem pretty concerned, there is nothing "faux" about that. People who love COD are probably pretty concerned also...

But sure.

People didn't know or want admit that Sony is being a bully behind the scene, up until just recently people felt like it was just fanboy staning and Microsoft failing. Now official court documents prove that it hasn't been.

Exclusive deals have been around since gaming, and they'll be around. No one has a problem with it.

The problem is all this extra stuff that Sony is doing.

shyt like this just shows everyone that you don't understand how contracts work lol. Of course Sony is going to demand they get first option before any competitors. This is shyt you see in every industry, and nothing is preventing MS from cutting similar deals (which they obviously do too).

All of this at the end of the day are terms that Capcom accepted for Sony to handle all marketing for their products.

Are we Jim Ryan and nikkas at Playstation? No. I don't gaf about Sony being a "bully" like wtf lol. How that sound? All the extra stuff Sony is doing such as having a deal with Activision which THEY accepted to not put COD on a "service" on a different platform for a few years? Yeah, big deal for me.

What does this tweet have to do with me "understanding contracts"
If only you knew :dead:

As far as why Capcom and especially all other major publisher take these deals it all goes back to the "monopolistic practices" that you love pinning on MS.

Sony can make "demands" because there marketshare is so massive. If Capcom doesn't agree, which they are free not too. They lose out on massive promotion, deals, and promotional benefits.

So yeah put it on gamepass, and lose out on any kind of promotion and spotlight from the company with a lion share of the market or just don't and make sure that the game is equivalent on both systems while locking down exclusive media promotions and as a bonus if Sony is interested they can do a exclusive deal with the option to renew it on a yearly basis or whatever time frame Sony sees fit.

So by combining the typical exclusive and timed exclusive deals with all that other stuff they essentially have locked Xbox out.

Literally the only solution to that changing is throwing money at. No amount of great exclusive games or "home grown 1st party titles" is going to put them in a position to compete with that in the foreseeable future.
