My favorite horror movie of all time.

Haven't seen the prequel being meaning to. Saw CGI in the trailer and it kinda turned me off, was hoping they'd do practical effects.

On a side not anyone remember playing the video game? It was a sequel on Xbox and PS2. I fukking loved that game, personal classic. Testing the people you found was genuinely suspensful.

I agree. This is one movie that makes me shudder and my skin crawl so it does its job lol. That scene with the dogs damn near has the same effect on you as if you turned on your lights in the middle of the night and saw five snakes slithering on your floor. :sadbron: Totally repulsive and nerve shattering and still not easy to watch to this day.

Watch that shyt on a 50 inch TV with surround sound speakers. :weirdo:

The prequel is nothing special at all.

Yea its def a classic...top 10 sci fi movie for sure. It's aged amazingly well too. I watched it not long ago there's no way you could tell it was released in the early 80's. The special effects shyt on 99% of the CGI trash coming out in the last 10 years.

The acting seemed a lot more authentic back then because they were forced to react to something that was physically in front of them, whereas now the actors are in front of a green screen. The fear they displayed at times was actually real.

Sometimes they wouldn't tell people exactly what was happening in the scene either. In the scene from "Alien" at the dinner table, when the alien busted out of ol' boy's chest, none of the other actors knew it would happen. They just walked into the room, he was set up on the table, and started the scene.

The looks on their faces and screams were real....and Veronica Cartwright actually fainted after they yelled "cut".

Wanting people to use those old kind of special effects and saying "fukk cgi" is just pure nostalgia

no real logic to it at all at this point

not frontin tho I see and understand why someone would love those old kind of effects. nothin wrong with that

But CGI simply looks way better. Especially right now because the cgi is so crazy

when it first came out people were like :childplease: because that shyt looked almost cartoonish

but now in the past few years........just look at avatar or somethin like that. shyt looks real dog!

I fukk with old movies heavy........but just the ones that didn't use mad corny special effects

not even hatin on this movie either.........just sayin

The problem is most movies don't look like "Avatar". CGI is out of control nowadays....they're using CGI blood instead of squibs, and it looks worse than an effect that has been around since the 1950s.

This thread is a good place to discuss this, because "The Thing" prequel did a ton of practical effects that looked better than the CGI in the movie....but they used CGI because people expect it.
