our max offer to Zach will always trump any max he can get on the open market

That's the case for every major free agent and yet several still leave :francis:

assuming we want to keep him, and next season isnt a complete disaster, I really dont see him turning down the extra $$ we can offer
The "extra money" really doesn't equate to much of a difference when you add on the fact that at 26 barring severe injury he'll likely get another contract after this one from whatever other team is out their in position to get him next summer...

The money difference is overwhelmingly artificial due to the home team being able to offer a 5th year ..but when you consider the fact that these types of guys will almost certainly get another contract/extension after the 4th year if they were to go to another team the difference in pay really isn't that much .... So I wouldn't bank on that being the primary reason he stays or goes ...I think it's going to be primarily a basketball decision... If this team is still sputtering I can see him wanting to look for greener pastures for sure :yeshrug:

Yeah honestly I’ve said the same thing before about the extra $ from the current team being a bit of a facade due to the extra year. It’s not exactly apples to apples. I think Zach would pride himself on getting the most $ possible though. We just need to win games next season which means AK has a lot of work to do this offseason.

it’s pretty much this offseason or bust to improve this roster considering our cap situation moving forward. They need to get creative and make another major move.

The Knicks are more delusional than thecoli is about Lonzo if he gets 22 million from them:mjlol:

This nikka started producing at league average and suddenly he became the second coming of a young Gary Payton :laff:
Don't know why you're getting into Hyperbole.... As there are 0 people claiming the bolded .... 20 million a year is regular ass starting PG money in the 2022 NBA economy... This isn't '05 anymore my nikka :francis:

Yeah I think more than money our biggest selling point to Zach will be organizational role ...he knows he's the HNIC here and if he goes to another team like NYK as an example will that still be the case? But all of this shyt is a guessing game because we on the outside never really truly will know what the authentic motivating factors for these players are because they often give fake answers about free agency when asked

it’s pretty much this offseason or bust to improve this roster considering our cap situation moving forward. They need to get creative and make another major move.

Correct... Which is why this season going to shyt as it did was such a setback as I know based off what he said in his post deadline presser that AK wanted to build organizational momentum and league presence thru a playoff run this year... we'll see exactly what quality of a Front Office we have based on the next 4 months no doubt

300 murders a year
The way I view the lavine situation, try to build a winning squad with him in the fold , this off season is vital in that. If what we build is not going anywhere, flip lavine at the deadline and get a couple picks amd a young prospect for him. Lavine on a contract year is likely going to ball out and be an all star again. We can def still get a good haul for him.

I hope y'all watching y'all savior Lonzo tonight. :unimpressed:
As long as he's better than Sato he'll just have to do :francis:

But that leads to an interesting question of who we think AKME will be/should be primarily targeting this summer tho ...one glarring issue with Lonzo is that he's a RFA meaning we'd have to tie our money up in an offer sheet with him for like a week I believe and at the end of that NO could match a leave us assed out in as far as getting other players

Like someone said earlier I'm giving them a grave period. I don't blame them for trying to see what the ceiling of this current core is and trying to win considering Zach can leave. The team is underperforming, but they didn't build this core, they just added to it.

I would've rather they committed further to building through the draft but as you saw even in this thread the fanbase was ready to win and have a winning culture. Some of us like myself and @Left.A1 didn't like the Vucevic trade but most of us was rocking with that "winning culture" narrative.

I'm tryna be patient but I dont like how they switched horses mid stream. All year they talking about this is development, evaluation year, we wanna develop the young guys......and then mid season, you switch up and bring in an "allstar" and now we GOTTA make the playoffs this year

I tried to talk myself into the trade, I think I was used to us not making any moves that...I let myself go for it.

Problem is Vuc is pretty good but hes not great....he has made an ASG but he's not a high level, perennial Allstar guy. Hell, Jamal Magloire was an Allstar too. Our defense was already bad and now we are adding another bad defender in the mix. And Vucs offense isnt near good enough to make up for it. He's not a guy that is gonna put the team on his back or elevate teammates. I'm not hating, he can play but he ain't really moving the needle like that and he is prob more of a net neutral due to him being a sieve on defense.

I dont miss WCJ but 2 picks plus a young prospect and an expiring contract feels like a vast overpay. We shoulda held steady at 1 pick....bc we also took money off their books(Aminu)

Our cap outlook isnt great unless we renounce Thad, Theis, Sato and if we do that, we have no depth.

Honestly should have traded Thad for a younger cheaper version(Grant Williams?)

Lauri should have been traded last year when he still had "potential" , now he has limited value...everyone knows how one dimensional and inconsistent he is....dude still think he's a starter too:heh:

Donovan isnt bad but he was the wrong fit for this team. Donovan only has success when he has a HOF PG on his squad(CP3, :youngsabo:who basically runs the team for him. He doesnt seem to be good at player development. I hate how he took away the best part of Pat's game(off dribble midrange) and made him sit in the corner basically for the sake of analytics.....doesnt seem to have done much to give Coby tools to succeed.

Also they refuse to develop the back end of the roster
Why is Dotson not playing over Arci? We know Arci is :trash:, try someone new. We keep Felicio on roster, wasting space while other teams use G League to look for diamonds in the rough. Dudes who can be contributing rotational players for cheap. AK seems lazy in that regard, the best GMs are constantly churning the roster to find hidden gems

Looks like they plan to just run this squad back and just add Lonzo.....possibly they bring over Simonovic to replace Lauri

I think Zach will resign in 2022 tho, seems like he likes here and we can give him most $

My long term outlook is pretty grim. They just have too many holes to fill on this team but with almost no assets pick wise and limited cap space

They're gonna have to go after dudes like Kevin Knox who never blossomed for their 1st team but still have "potential"

Wonder how many people from this fanbase would currently take the over on this team producing more than 1 "Allstar" by next February :francis:
