Like someone said earlier I'm giving them a grave period. I don't blame them for trying to see what the ceiling of this current core is and trying to win considering Zach can leave. The team is underperforming, but they didn't build this core, they just added to it.
I would've rather they committed further to building through the draft but as you saw even in this thread the fanbase was ready to win and have a winning culture. Some of us like myself and
@Left.A1 didn't like the Vucevic trade but most of us was rocking with that "winning culture" narrative.
I'm tryna be patient but I dont like how they switched horses mid stream. All year they talking about this is development, evaluation year, we wanna develop the young guys......and then mid season, you switch up and bring in an "allstar" and now we GOTTA make the playoffs this year
I tried to talk myself into the trade, I think I was used to us not making any moves that...I let myself go for it.
Problem is Vuc is pretty good but hes not great....he has made an ASG but he's not a high level, perennial Allstar guy. Hell, Jamal Magloire was an Allstar too. Our defense was already bad and now we are adding another bad defender in the mix. And Vucs offense isnt near good enough to make up for it. He's not a guy that is gonna put the team on his back or elevate teammates. I'm not hating, he can play but he ain't really moving the needle like that and he is prob more of a net neutral due to him being a sieve on defense.
I dont miss WCJ but 2 picks plus a young prospect and an expiring contract feels like a vast overpay. We shoulda held steady at 1 pick....bc we also took money off their books(Aminu)
Our cap outlook isnt great unless we renounce Thad, Theis, Sato and if we do that, we have no depth.
Honestly should have traded Thad for a younger cheaper version(Grant Williams?)
Lauri should have been traded last year when he still had "potential" , now he has limited value...everyone knows how one dimensional and inconsistent he is....dude still think he's a starter too
Donovan isnt bad but he was the wrong fit for this team. Donovan only has success when he has a HOF PG on his squad(CP3,
who basically runs the team for him. He doesnt seem to be good at player development. I hate how he took away the best part of Pat's game(off dribble midrange) and made him sit in the corner basically for the sake of analytics.....doesnt seem to have done much to give Coby tools to succeed.
Also they refuse to develop the back end of the roster
Why is Dotson not playing over Arci? We know Arci is
, try someone new. We keep Felicio on roster, wasting space while other teams use G League to look for diamonds in the rough. Dudes who can be contributing rotational players for cheap. AK seems lazy in that regard, the best GMs are constantly churning the roster to find hidden gems
Looks like they plan to just run this squad back and just add Lonzo.....possibly they bring over Simonovic to replace Lauri
I think Zach will resign in 2022 tho, seems like he likes here and we can give him most $
My long term outlook is pretty grim. They just have too many holes to fill on this team but with almost no assets pick wise and limited cap space
They're gonna have to go after dudes like Kevin Knox who never blossomed for their 1st team but still have "potential"
