Team was capped out
Had little to no young developing talent
And Jimmy was too good to tank with
All that would have happened is that you depressed Jimmys value by trading him away a year too late or you end up having to pay him a SuPermax which he was eligible for and you end up without any flexibility moving forward like the Wizards and John Wall ....
Trading him was one of the most prudent logical decisions Gar/Pax ever made
Based on the way his last season unfolded and several other teams throughout history in similar situations I would say its really not that difficult at allIt's hard to really say that.
I don't think this team has a high ceiling whatsoever as currently constructed but I don't see how that's a relevant question as to whether or not the Butler trade was the correct maneuver as our current standing has more to do with decisions made post trade not the trade itself... you traded Butler and got a younger dramatically cheaper "all-star" player back in addition to a top 10 pick and future draft positioning ..thats a perfectly suitable value exchangeWhat do you think the ceiling of this core is in the next 3/4 seasons...4th seed? 3rd? Certainly not top seed.
Based on what? Essentially they moved off of Butler and gained 4 top ten picks and Zach Lavine ..now what you do with those assets is a matter of execution but that part shouldn't have much bearing on whether or not the trade was equitableI think they could've accomplished a 4th seed or worse team around Jimmy, and in terms of tanking, this team got what, two picks at 7 and one pick at 4? Idk if I really consider it that great a decision.
So then whats the complaint ...seems like you believe that at worst they end up where they would have been regardlessYes the team would be in treadmill hell, but it's not like I forsee this particular team leaving that hell either.
Like I said ... having a good plan and executing said plan are not one in the same ... you can make a correct decision that turns out bad because of course in life there are several variables that can change the equation ...assessing a decision purely on the end result without any context is something I generally don't participate in for that very reason .. for example if I choked on a sandwich it doesn't mean sandwich eating is inherently bad (and to keep it bulls centric) was drafting Rose over Westbrook a mistake since Rose career flamed out and we never even went to a championship? this is rhetorical of course understanding the context of what happened to Roses career but the point remains.. context matters ...if your beef is that the trade didn't get enough return ok that can be a conversation... if the beef is you simply didn't want Jimmy traded because you liked him and would have liked to build with him ok thats a convo ... but to take the fact that you don't think this will be a top 4 team as the primary reason really misses the mark and comes off as shallow without considering the impact of the decisions made post trade ...I do like the way the team is rounding out, but I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel, unlike what I see in places like OKC or Brooklyn when they were in our position.

Thaddeus Young Explains Just How Dysfunctional the Bulls Really Were Last Year
They have reasons not to be in sync but this shyt is a point of pride at this point. The Magic are also playing with a group of players that were thrown together as part of the exact same trade. I can take losses and something to grow on, but they've been playing gutless these last few games.Defense is just atrocious
It’s getting to the point that Coby needs to just be strictly offball
soon as he steps on the court, he's a walking turnover.
