I haven't finished the second book yet but the book series is vastly different. Nora never dies in the book I don't believe and her mom makes it to the third one. I don't remember Dutch I think she's for the show but Zack does get taken. He doesn't come back for YEARS though and Quinlan was more of the vamp swat team and not rogue like he is now. At least so far he isn't where I've read
