Outside of sports and p*ssy, DBZ bonded men together from all different backgrounds. It’s sacrilegious to even mildly criticize it. I saw nerds and hood nikkas chop it up for hours in high school over Goku Vs Vegeta debates.
:beli:What era we talking about son. Certainly not mine. Donald Glover had a whole bit about what it was like to be a Black nerd in the early mid-2000’s. Let’s not white wash history now and minimize the struggle of our Black nerd ancestors.

I've watched plenty of other anime and DBZ will always be my GOAT
The assumption that people who love and crown DBZ as the GOAT that they haven't seen other shyt is absolutely hilarious and tone deaf to me.

Even if you don't value nostalgia and rose tinted glasses, the influence and appreciation for the ground it's broken will inevitably have you turn back to DBZ and understand it's place as the greatest. It's something to be said when you watch future anime or media, like even me playing FF16, KNOWING that they took cues or ideas from DBZ only further adds to it's legacy.

Demon Slayer and Mob Psycho are anime that objectively should be considered better than DBZ and yet they still don't hold a candle. The characters arent as memorable, the fights don't carry as much weight, the plot of them nearly already been forgotten for me, and they simply aren't pillars in pop culture, which DBZ has been and always will be.

Sorry, not sorry. :manny:

I get it but people were saying the same shyt bout bleach and Naruto. It's recency bias. We'll see 5 years after it ends how it really ranks

Saying what about Bleach and Naruto? That they're better than DBZ? I'm not particularly fond of Naruto post time-skip, but I think it's a better watch than DBZ. Same for Jujutsu (and I don't have to wait 5 years to say this). Ultimately, this is all subjective - and like I said, I was just using the opportunity to share an anime I enjoy with the brehs.

I like DBZ, and i'll always have a soft spot for it because of what it did for anime/animation in general, but it's not something I could sit down to watch these days. The pace, dialog, characters' motivations and development - it just not the best, not when compared against its modern contemporaries - but this shouldn't really be held against it too tough because in many regards DBZ was a pioneer (and inspiration for most of the shyt that followed it).

Found a Toonami stream from Adult Swim's channel. IDK what they're streaming right now, but I've seen Attack on Titan, One Piece, FLCL, etc. on there. Stick around long enough and I'm sure they'll be streaming some Dragonball too.

I miss that feeling, y'all. :mjcry:
