Still watching s3e5

So brehs, there were some things that happened early on that I didn't really understand.

For instance, is the restaurant cook whose restaurant Tony had burned down, an actual part of the organization?

And why did Tony have his restaurant burned down in the first place?

Why did Tony let this dude get away with pulling the shotty on him? And then at his mother's funeral, he threatened to go inside and tell everybody what Tony did.

Why ain't Tony just ending this dude?
Tony had the restaurant burned down so Artie would get the insurance money

Junior was gonna kill Little p*ssy Malanga in Artie's restaurant which would've killed his business so he burned it down so Junior didn't get to whack little p*ssy there.

Artie isn't part of the organization, he's high school friends with Tony and that's why tony doesn't just kill him because he's an actual long term friend

Also, can somebody explain to me why Tony became cool with his uncle again in s2 after he tried to have him killed in s1?

It seemed like he was gonna do a hit on his uncle until he got arrested. And now that he's out of prison, they're back to being cool again.

Also, his uncle keeps saying "I'm still the boss of this family."

Why does he think he's still the boss?
He's friendly with Junior because Junior got what he wanted, he's the boss and got pinched and went to jail... Junior is "The Boss" of the family, Tony is the Street Boss... Junior represents the family and makes the decisions overall in important matters

That's all Junior has at this point is his title, so that's why he's so adamant on why "i'm still the boss of this family"

Tony is cool with Junior for a couple reasons, because Junior took his shot and missed, so seeing tony is a reminder of his failure, and tony loves to rub it in his face. He's also still Tony's uncle... so even in a fukked up world, that still means something to him

two things:

hes trying to keep jun around as the official boss of the family to soak up legal attention while he is the real boss. and because junior is getting that legal attention he tries to use the title in the family disputes

i also think he understands junior trying to get him killed was just business after he was meeting with his capos behind his back

Walk Like a Man & The Ride (S6A & 6B)

I've said it before but Chris is my favorite character, and his relationship with Tony my favorite arc in the show. Both of these episodes are about the deterioration of their relationship, but in The Ride they're still willing to hold on to whatever is left of it. In WLAM it's just gone. The flashback to Chris telling Tony about Ade is where it broke.

Something interesting I noticed on my latest rewatch is that almost every Chris-centric episode is also an AJ episode, and they will cut between the two a lot. Definitely intentional and says a lot. When AJ self-destructs Tony is reduced to either whimpering and calling him baby or forcing opportunity after opportunity onto him. When Chris self destructs it keeps chipping away at Tony's love and respect for him, until the endpoint.
this was one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. Tony looked like the devil himself in this scene, and Christufuh is realizing he damned himself for nothing.

I'm on the part where Ralphie is swinging the chain while Tony in the other room getting domed up. Tony finally couldn't take it no more, but that thot was NOT deterred. She wasn't distracted at all. She was putting in WORK. :wtf:

Yeah there's so much happening in this scene, and this episode.

- They all sat there as Chris got drunk as fukk (to be fair, Paulie did offer a spritz or something at first).
- Members ranked lower than Chris are laughing at him, especially Benny who works under Chris (and earlier little Paulie directly went against Chris by robbing his father in law).
- Bobby has become fully corrupted by becoming so close to Tony (replacing Chris, even).
- Even the hoes who Paulie is mocking are laughing at the jokes.
- Tony intentionally looks like a devil here, and throughout 6B. In the next episode there's a literal shot of him staring at a devil in the casino.

Chase mentioned this scene once in one of his infamous "non-answers" regarding the finale. He's pretty much all but confirmed it at this point.

There are no esoteric clues in there. No Da Vinci Code. Everything that pertains to that episode was in that episode. And it was in the episode before that and the one before that and seasons before this one and so on. There had been indications of what the end is like. Remember when Gerry Torciano was killed? Silvio was not aware that the gun had been fired until after Gerry was on his way down to the floor. That's the way things happen: It's already going on by the time you even notice it. [...] I'm not saying anything. And I'm not trying to be coy. It's just that I think that to explain it would diminish it.

In a January 2019 interview with Alan Sepinwall and Matt Zoller Seitz for their book The Sopranos Sessions, Chase inadvertently referred to the final scene as "that death scene". Seitz asked Chase if he was aware of his choice of words to which the latter, after a long pause, responded, "fukk you guys." Chase went on to reveal that he "didn't want to do a straight death scene", after originally envisioning Tony's death occurring in a meeting with Johnny Sack. Chase later clarified his statement, saying he was not describing the Holsten's scene as "that death scene" but an earlier idea that he had abandoned.[38]

Now this thot trying to get Tony to weigh in on her being pregnant with Ralphie baby. :what:

And why doesn't Tony kill Ralphie? It's obvious what type of time this dude is on.

Is it case he can't kill him since he's a made man? And technically he hasn't done anything that's against the Family?
