Originally, Chase was going to have Tony actually smother her with the pillow in S1, but the actress, knowing she had terminal illness (cancer?) asked him to keep her working as long as possible so he kept her in the show til she actually passed. This is why her role in S2 is minor, compared to S1…she wasn’t intended to be there, plus she was sick.

Had she not passed, in S3 she was going to testify against Tony about the airline tickets (according to chase). Not sure if he’s mentioned other plot lines or how her character would’ve ended up.
Thinking back on it, it's actually amazing how Tony never steps foot in a court throughout the whole series. Would've been interesting to see him interacting with a judge and a prosecutor.

Holy shyt! Smothering his mom would have made the audience realize Tony was a monster right off the bat. The way things worked out, I (and I think most of the audience) didn’t realize or accept what a monster Tony was until the last season.

Another thing I love about this show is the music. the music director is an unsung hero. As a hip hop head, this show put me on a lot of music I would have never listened to if not for the show and it’s so diverse.

It’s because of Sopranos that I became a Frank Sinatra fan. :heh:

Yup, I made a burn CD as "The Sopranos Soundtrack"

Agreed 100%. This might be my favorite episode-ending song, and one of the best Tony scenes.

Long term parking then all due respect are probably the two best back to back episodes in television history.

Knight in white satin armor + Funhouse combo is up there too

@Whips-n-Chains something I noticed when watching Season 3 again

Tony would come home late in the evening and Carmela would be in bed reading or something and tony would take his clothes off and have just his wife beater and boxers on and get in bed. He wouldn't even shower for the evening, just hop in bed. Carmela never gave off any vibe that it bothered her that he never showered before getting in bed.
