But for all of Tony's weaknesses he had great foresight for the most part, seeing his enemies from a mile away, and being slippery when them snitches was trying to put him away.

What I also love about it is that is as the show progressed, his foes became more dangerous and posed a greater threat.

Junior - Possessed great power but that was about it. Lacked cunning and was not above being manipulated by his enemies.

Richie - Was 100% fearless. Not as powerful as Junior but what he lacked in power he made up for with moxy. No one in the show's history had a bigger set of balls than Richie. Wasn't afraid to take it to Tony regardless of who went along with it.

Ralph - Probably the weakest of Tony's adversaries. Lacked power and lacked ferocity but he was smart and he found a way to make himself valuable to Tony despite being a known enemy.

Johnny Sac - More powerful than anything Tony had ever faced before. Could crush him if need be. Thankfully he and Tony were able to reach a peaceful solution. That was the thing with John, he wasn't a brute. He was fierce and he was strong but he COULD be reasoned with if push came to shove.

Phil - An unholy mix of everything that had come before. He was Tony's worst nightmare. He had the power of Johnny Sac but he also had the viciousness of Richie Aprile. The ultimate enemy.

I'm talkin in relation to Tony.

Ralph killing a stripper doesn't speak to his ferocity, not in the mob game. The extent of Ralphie's "balls" was throwin a quip Paulie's way or some dumb shyt like that.

He never got in Tony's face or no shyt like that. You think Richie woulda played that shyt when Tony asked him to sit down in the restaurant? :usure:

Tony bent over Ralphie like a bytch during that whole ordeal.

Killed the nikka while he was cookin breakfast. :jawalrus:

And look at Richie in that scene.

He looks Tony dead in the eye throughout the whole thing. Wasn't scared a lick.

Richie didn't back down from Tony. He went for his head.

Definitely agree about Richie, he was not only fearless and a stone killer, but he was his own man. Most people in Tony's crew, except Sil and Bobby Baccala, are suckups. Even someone like Paulie, who was a very dangerous guy and who was clipping people in his 60s, has always kissed Tony's ass and was desperate for his approval.
Not Richie though. He came out of the can with zero friends and zero cash, and didn't play the kissing ass game. He looked Tony straight in the eye and told him "what's mine is not yours to give me". How many guys would do that?

Richie's fault was that he was a shytty politician. In Cosa Nostra politicking is what counts. It was the same case with Feech LaManna.

Exactly why he got rid of Feech, them older cats didnt respect Tony, throughout the show people threw shots at his leadership, saying things wouldnt have been like this in the old days, or things would have been different if Johnny was around......

But for all of Tony's weaknesses he had great foresight for the most part, seeing his enemies from a mile away, and being slippery when them snitches was trying to put him away.
tony's foresight was useful unto himself and only himself, and even that ran out at the end. the dimeo family/new jersey family was gutted and dead in the water by the end of the show.

people threw shots at his leadership because they could, he was awful at managing the family. old guys had nothing but good things to say about jackie aprile, and as soon as he died the family went downhill

Exactly. Richie had heart. He was heartLESS, but he had heart. He was not afraid of anything.

There's a scene I love in which Tony sends Paulie and Sil to go speak to Richie about building a ramp for Beansie's house.

Now mind you these are the two highest members in the family next to Tony himself, one of them being Paulie... a fukkin 35-40 year veteran in the game who's probably been seen and been through more shyt than just about anybody.

They pretty much lay it on the line and tell Beansie he better do it or else... and Richie doesn't even flinch.

The muthafukka throws it back right in their faces.

The #2 and #3 guys in the family... fukkin lifelong gangsters... stone cold killin muthafukkas.... left lookin like :shaq2:

Agreed.

Tony was too emotional to be number 1. Should have handed over Tony B the minute he went off the reservation, but his pride got in the way. A lot of the tension with New York, and nearly all the tension with Phil would have been avoided.

Killed Ralph over a fukken horse when he was his best earner. Then, in order to cover up that nonsense, he had people in his own family thinking his captains could disappear and nothing would happen. Not a good look.

shyt, as much as I liked Chris he should been put down like 3 times. He really served no purpose other than his constant bytching. I don't recall him ever being a particularly strong earner. Maybe with that movie shyt at the end, but even that shouldn't have been allowed. Dudes in Hollywood punching Lauren Bacall in the face n shyt to earn...kickin up a damn watch

Tony took's Ralph horse, he took his girl and he killed him, on some ultimate disrespectful shyt, Ralphie wasn't like or feared, he just was able to linger near the top three because of his money making abilities

Edit: Just seen the killed the nikka while cooking breakfast:lolbron:

It was Sil who should have been number 1, he was respected by the old timers, plus his murder game was not to be fukked with, the only slight on sil is that asthma shyt:heh:

Tony simply wasn't respected out of all the beefs he had he was always the reactive one, forced into the defensive, and most of the time when he did handle things he did passive aggressively like with Feech, and Junior(putting the feds on him), which is exactly why little Carmine implied that Tony was a poser that talked the talk but couldn't walk the walk.......Going over the seasons once more it's making me see exactly how weak Tony and how he really wasn't respected, he should have been killed on the strength of trying to steal Chrissy girl and it being exposed to the whole family that he had a coke issue the same shyt he threw Chrissy in rehab for, both are in the mafia's ten commandments..........Tony should have have got murked dozens of times for his antics and disregard for long standing mafia rules
