song comes up on my Spotify, and I’m like this is :banderas:, but the singer’s voice sounds so familiar for some reason:jbhmm:.
Click on his profile, and see he’s the voice behind this classic

I never got how people thought he was black :russ:

Always he was white by his voice

Dude was a great vocalist :ehh:

Any popular examples of this going the other way? Is Living Colour the closest? I was never fooled though.

:jbhmm:

Darius Rucker never fooled me either. It's hard to hide a black voice, it doesn't matter the genre, most singers have some roots in the church. Speaking of which, those white college kids singing gospel broke my brain.

Back in the day this song, believe it or not, got more play on black radio stations and clubs than it did on MTV and white clubs.

So did Madonna in the beginning of her career when she was a rising disco-pop star linking up wit Nile Rogers.

Can't forget first time I found out been around the world and nyah nyah nyah was a white British lady.

Another fun fact: rock and roll legend Buddy Holly was the first white act ever to be booked for the Apollo in 1957, and it was only because the owners mistakenly believed the were black R&B group until it was too late and the show had to happen. They were booed at first but the audience grew to enjoy them.

Elton John was the first white act ever invited to perform on Soul Train.

Lots of weird moments of white artists crossing into black music Without you even knowing!

I knew it would be that song.

It tricked me out, when I found out this song was made by a white man.

Always thought it was a woman :dead:

Edit: was right. Just sampled to hell
