The show "How I Met Your Mother" irks me.

I don't think I've ever seen a TV show that actually makes me angry when I watch it. How I Met Your Mother does. They're all so corny and the plot lines are so stupid. I just want to beat up the entire cast.

I've been watching it now and then cause I had nothing better to do and I just find it so annoying. Also the fact that it takes Ted like over 8 years to finally tell his freaking kids how he met the mother. Probably the worst show on TV at the moment.

Outside of sports, that's the way I feel about CBS in general. :manny:

this. i noticed the humor getting way more goofy on some fall down and bump your head shyt. i lost track a season or so ago

Yup, that's the main reason I stopped watching. Characters became flanderized, and the jokes were really oddball, goofy shyt that relied heavily on immature gags. The First 4 seasons are probably my favorite of any Sitcom barring Seinfield, but about mid way through 5 it took a huge nose dive in to the ground quality wise to the point that it makes me angry when I watch newer episodes, wondering how it could be so good at one point and then totally change the whole style of humor mid way through the series. It's not like they changed writers or anything.

The main writers and creators of the show are still working with the team, but they have changed some writers. It's pretty obvious you can tell the dialogue between characters has changed drastically as well as the jokes and gags being used. Season 1-4 though were powerful forms of tv, then CBS realized they have a cult following with this show. Also, the audience behind this show changed too, during season 1 and 2 not many women watched this show but drastically it has become a couples/women's type of appeal to it now (forced relationships{stintson, robin} change in dialogue and jokes, boring celeb appearances (Holmes, Lopez)

Yeah, I think the Britney Spears episodes brought in a new audience that saved the show from cancellation, but at the same time their viewership probably changed the show for the worst.
That season with the captain and Zoey may have been the worst season of a comedy tv sitcom I actually completely watched on a consistent basis.

Does Marshall and Lilly have a Martin/Gina situation goin on?

I don't think Jason Segel wanted to do the 9th season, so they probably scripted it in a way that he didn't have to do much work.

IIRC, NPH spoke out against her casting, because of this.

I think NBC wanted Judd Apatow to cast Spears in an episode of Freaks and Geeks and he declined
