Glad I read this because now I don't have to watch it. Watching this movie probably would have put me in a depression like Requiem For A Dream did.

the thing is most people don't have the same interpretation as me for the film..they thought it was like some normal hitman movie but during the last act ..it turns into some like wicker man/cultish like film..so people were like :mindblown::mindblown: and thought the movie was stupid but if you watch it closely you'll see that there is a coherent plot and the movie is really underrated

This film does everything but that. That's the reason why folk deem it slow during the 1st act, because there's a story being created and there is character foundations (more a social construct) being laid. You've just basically explained the opposite of this film.

I only watched it once.. I don't plan on rewatching it unless it comes on one of the premium channels... I remember the violence sticking out moreso than anything else. The whole first half of the movie is kind of dull.. the wife is a bytch pretty much and pushes him back into doing "his thing'. There are alot of things unexplained that kind of bothered me and made me uninterested... but again, I'll have to rewatch..

IMO a film that introduces it's characters midway through his life and as a retired ciminal was Sexy Beast...

One thing that confused me was........

At the end when he sees his wife stabbed up and dying and then she sort of starts laughing in a weird way does that suggest the wife was involved as well? I don't really think it fits the story but that one moment had me thinking :ooh:

The director Ben Wheatey is seriously on the come up. He did an underrated Brit gangster film called Down Terrace which I'd recommend. shyt has that Coens flavor to it. Plus I need to check out his recent joint Sightseers.
