Ill movie, so creepy, tense, atmospheric..unsettling, some scenes and moments of genuine horror that you don't see in trash like 'Sinister' and 'Mama'. Hard to watch at times, too, esp. the ending. The opening scenes are so unnerving and chilling, you know theres a current of evil and blood underneath the suburban facade of barbecues and bullshyt.

It's a stretch to call it the best British-horror film since 2010?

(2010s) yes i guess so lol..like how many british horrors came out recently besides kill list that had a american release

Just got done watching and it was weak

fukk was the point of this movie?

kk i will explain it bit by bit:

alright so the film is based off two ex hitmen who decide to go back to killing people because of the money...they meet this new client who gives them a "list" of people to kill...however this client is acutally a leader of a satanic/neopaganist cult and the people on the list are offerings or sacrifices for the return of their messiah like figure/anti christ which they believe is jay, blood must be spilt from these victims for it to count,..notice that after one offing nikkas...they say tahnk you..each people on this list are sacrificial lambs that are thankful to be killed by their messiah....notice that after he kills off each person on the list..he turns into a wreck..his human body is detoriating, he becomes mentally unstable. he sees hallucinations of the "witch", the other hitmens girl friend who is actually a member of the cult.its his descent to madness...to becoming a living demon..when his best friend dies...and then him killing his son and wife in the process..thats like when they crown him as the anti-christ figure. not only that theres alot of interesting motifs like that symbol, some foreshadowing (father playing knife fighting with the wife and son, the dead rabbit etc.)

Movie was aiiight. It suffers from the same thing most horror films these days suffer from.. It's more about "shocking" you by showing you these brutal graphic deaths and bizarre situations than it is about developing characters and the storyline. This is the reason I feel the French extreme movies are overrated and wack... because they basically do the same thing.. They show you the most fukked up shyt but theirs never a "pay off" for it... they just push brutality in your face because it looks "cool" or whatever..

None of the main characters are at all likeable or at all sympathetic. The forshadowing is nice, but you don't care to catch it because it's usually the part of the movie where it drags...

:what:

This film does everything but that. That's the reason why folk deem it slow during the 1st act, because there's a story being created and there is character foundations (more a social construct) being laid. You've just basically explained the opposite of this film.

:welldamn:

Glad I read this because now I don't have to watch it. Watching this movie probably would have put me in a depression like Requiem For A Dream did.

the end bit was a tamer version of a serbian film..

The whole film's basically a British version of "A Serbian Film" (which is strange when they were both made at around the same time). Except it's a great film and the latter isn't.

The whole social commentary on the 'state of the nation' is more effective because its subtleness/ambiguity creates more of an atmosphere and anticipation of where the story's going, rather than pointing every single thing out to you like 'A Serbian film' does.
