Without the canel, the Mediterrean would still separate Africa from Europe, and the red sea would still separate Africa from the middle east

also you have to be A LARGE LAND MASS to be considered a continent

so even if they were all connected today, Europe doesn't quality to be a land mass, same reason why the middle east isn't considered a continent

I’m not sure. If I was in a former USSR country , I’d be worried. The US can intervene, but they really don’t want to. Then China could join in, and that would lead to a much bigger war. I don’t think China or the US want that, so they’ll tolerate Putin doing this (in my opinion)
